What are you doing to cope with the increase in the cost of living?

Have you stared purchasing no name rather than branded products to save money?

I write a shopping list and purchase only what is on the list when I go shopping. If I only need a few items I take a couple of shopping bags instead of using a trolley. That way I am less likely to buy goods I can do without. I don't cook every day. I have a cooking day and cook enough meals for the week. The meals are frozen and thawed out when needed. This reduces gas usage. I do purchase some no name products. I also purchase the "odd bunch" fruit and vegetables whenever possible.

We have been buying no name for quite a while now, as a low income family who unfortunately can not work due to both adult parties having disabilities it definitely gets very hard to get by sometimes, the thing we love to do is look for free goods on marketplace, gumtree ect to reuse and recycle rather then them items end up in land fill. This also allows for some things to be lighter on our pockets which every cent saved is a massive help. The cost of living these days is a very big struggle.

I buy only what we need and not wants. For insurances at renewal time, we shop around for the best deal that suits our circumstances. We use our air conditioner on dry to remove the humidity from the air rather than starting and running the compressor for many days over summer and only use the air conditioner properly to cool on very hot days. We never use clothes drier, instead we use the sun outside. We take shorter showers, we don't drive to work and instead use public transport, we take our own lunches and don't buy takeaway coffees, we don't have any subscription services and have the best deal for mobile plans and internet plans. We cook all our food at home and use up old food first, so we don't have the cost of eating out. We mend clothes rather than discarding and going out to buy new ones, we take our own recyclable bags shopping so we don't pay for new bags each trip, we ensure our plumbing doesn't have any leaks as that would waste water, we buy fuel at its lowest price by locking in the price. We fix household items, do all the cleaning including windows and exterior and do all our own garden maintenance including cleaning gutters and removing trees, so we don't pay someone for their services. The only thing we can't do is plumbing, gas and electrical. We service our cars regularly so as to maintain them and not have big bills due to neglect. I cut my husband's hair and my own. Neither of us have any form of beauty treatments etc.
