This is a question that has no right or wrong answer. Somebody living in Australia where they have free healthcare and education may think that money does not provide happiness because it's a luxury they have taken for granted. Whilst someone who lives in poverty and doesn't get to eat a meal everyday, works long and hours and labours for a measley pay; who doesn't have shelter to guard them from the weather and can't afford medicine if they got sick would probably answer that money would make them happy.
Money is what we need to pay for our essential and living expenses. We buy our food without money. Without food we die. But with money, we can continue to live longer and everyday that we are alive is a chance for us to gain happiness. Because happiness is not eternal. It comes and goes. To have it, we must continue doing whatever it is we can to attain it.
Aside from the essentials, having more money means that we can pay for better quality items and services. We can pay for things to enrich our interests and hobbies. Get the extra comfort and luxuries when we pay for premiums and V.I.P treatments/packages. Money is what pays for our entertainment and socialising, like going to a nightclub, watching movies at the cinemas, catching up with friends. Money can also bring joy to others. We buy gifts and presents for our loved ones. We take our families on vacations and holidays. We donate money to charities or a good cause we believe in.
There are so more ways that money can bring us joy, often we don't appreciate enough. But it is important to remember that money is not actually what's making us happy. It is only the tool, the thing we use to get our sources of happiness.
So does money make us happy? Yes, and no.

No. You need acceptance of yourself and enjoyment in what do you for work and leisure to be happy, not money.
