We have a water tank and use it in the summer to water the gardens.

The last lot of rain we had in Gero, my wife and I spent most of the day in the rain collecting rain water in buckets coming of the roof and down pipes.
That was then put into our two storage plastic drums, both full now.
We then stared filling every other container we could find with rain water.
Now we have FREE water to feed the plants and the veg garden.
Tea tastes a lot better with our rain water
Gone 10 days and no sign of rain coming.
This is a big saving for us.

You can wash your laundry on the floor in your shower while you are taking a shower

Put a hose(available at hardware store called grey water hose) onto the washing machine rinse and water the plants(not vegies though) use bio friendly washing powder or eco laundry balls to prevent toxic residues.

I have helped people to do the same thing in country towns, musicmum.
Just need more people to do the same.
We will be sorry we did not save water, one day it will not be there.

We have a large Stefani water filter in the kitchen which we use for filtered drinking water. When I run the hot water tap, of course it is cold water at first, I collect this in a jug and put it into the water filter rather than it just going straight down the drain.

We save water in our fish pond as when it rains it comes from the roof and the over flow waters the garden

I also have a filtered system in my kitchen. No water down my sink.

We collect cold water from shower and running tap water, this either's goes on the plants, tom's or we flush the toilet, also tea leaves go on plants.
We place a bucket under our hot water system for the drips and overflow from very hot days again for plants.
There is a 2.500 lt tank by the shed with two overflow barrels that we use for watering the small grassed area, plants and filling watering cans.
The same water is used for the dogs and our filtering system to decant into 600 ml bottles and keep in the fridge to drink.
One day I should work out how much we save in water bills.
By the way I am a Plumber.
