How come we have to pay so much for the NZ made produce when Aust doesn't have GST on their home grown products. We should have a lower GST/ No GST on our goods. Making it easier for families to have good health food for there meals and supporting the local producers as well.

I am unable to work now for reasons I wont go into but used to work in the meat industry until being made redundant. One thing I found while there, and the same applies to dairy prices is tthe NZ domestic prices are lincked to the international market! So when the market is good we have to pay more too.
The farmers get paid more and fair enough, they produced the product, but why can't we use some of that extra income comming into the country to subsidise the domestict meat and dairy produd? $10.00 for a kilo of chese on special at that is rediculous. Even the people working in the industry, dairy factory workers, tanker drivers etc don't get any extra, it all goes to the farmers. Oh and GST!
