Who has been cruising?
We are totaly addicted to the only way to enjoy a great holiday. We have done 6 cruises and can not get enough of them.Unfortunately we have to go to work in between.I can honestly say that the cruise ships of today are more like floating resorts and the customer service is the best that we have come across be it with P&O or the Princess lines.Having said that we have also,in between, taken lots of road trips and planes ones too in Aust and there are so many beautiful places here. But for the ultimate, go cruising.

My husband and I travel extensively (5 or 6 trips per year as we are retired). In our experience the best cruise we have ever done was on the Freight Ship, "The Aranui3" cruising the remote and absolutely EXQUISITE Marquesas Islands (about 1000 kms north of Tahiti). The islands of the Marquesas are so beautiful they are indescribable (huge mist covered mountains and weird wind carved cliffs jutting straight out of the sea for thousands of feet ). Travelling on the Freighter ship is the only way you can reach these magnificent islands (beyond sailing there yourself) - cruise ships don't go there. The Aranui3 is such an important link to the islands (there are 10 major islands on the Marquesas archipelago) and the wonderful, friendly and amazingly hospitable peoples come rushing down to meet the ship as it unloads everything from cars, cows to TV sets! Its an incredible experience. View this website ... it is the DREAM holiday!

Another wonderful cruising destination (equal to the Marquesas) is cruising around the Galapagos. I have always preferred small ship cruising (it is more personal) and cruising on the small ships around the Galapagos islands was absolute heaven (there were only 16 on board our boat). We went with the fantastic group, Ecotours. You stop and explore every island and there were so many exciting highlights, eg snorkelling with the (harmless) blue reef sharks and curious sealions swimming right up to your mask (they looked like they were smiling at us). It is fantastic but I suggest you go there sooner than later as there are so many people going to the Galapagos now, tourists are starting to love it to death .. I have heard that the Ecuadorian government are considering limiting the number of tourists travelling to the Galapagos (to protect the area from overuse).
