I have insulin resistance (I make too much insulin) and was sent to a "nutritionist"??? (who I found out had no provider number but was connected to a fitness club) who gave me a high protein, low carbohydrate - sugar, dairy and grain free diet. It is OK for no more than 6 weeks as continued use can damage organs if used long term. I lost a reasonable amount weight but my cholestoral "went through the roof" as instead of some meats I used to eat he told me to eat meat with fat on it so I didn't get constipated. I basically ate almost the same meals breakfast, lunch and dinner. I asked for a 2nd opinion and was given a meal plan with protein and 2 serves of carbohydate for breakfast, lunch and dinner at night. I was allowed l serve for morning and afternoon snacks.
Check lists on google and you find "good" and "bad" carbohydrates and list of foods which contain them. I found the information very helpful.
