A wine's balance refers to how it handles the key components of acidity, alcohol, tannins and overall flavor does one component overpower the other or do they complement each other with each sip?

I am a wine tutor and run evening wine appreciation classes for adults. I always stress that part of the wine tasting process is to assess whether a wine is balanced i.e. if each of the the components acidity, alcohol and tannins (red wines only) complement rather than dominates the others.
