What is the rudest, most uncalled for you have ever heard from a sales-person as you were almost going to give them your money?

My hubby and i will often save up for a particular item, some of which items can only be purchased from "high-end" stores. Anyway, we don't dress up when we go out (but we dress tidily in things like jeans and a t-shirt with work boots or the like). What peeves us is that we will go to these stores to buy one of their products and we will be looked at (watched with an eagle eye more like it) and spoken down to because of what we are wearing.
I have some friends who are very well off (money wise) and they don't get the same treatment as we do (they dress casually too) when we go to the same stores.
I don't think it should matter what a person is wearing, as long as they have the money to buy the product (we don't have any credit cards), what should it matter with how they look!?
I have often walked out of a store (sometimes with my well behaved children in tow) having not been able to make a purchase because we quite simply could not get anyone to help/serve us or because the store people have had their security gaurds come around to watch over us- even though we would never do anything illegal, having a security guard hanging around is off putting when you're trying to make a big decision about spending big amounts of money on products which you'll be using for a number of years.
