How do you feel about Christmas? Love it? Hate it?

Do you wish Christmas would come and go quickly or do you look forward to it with great enthusiasm? Do you believe Christmas has lost its meaning given all the materialistic connotations associated with it or does it still have a special place in your heart?

In our house, Christmas is pretty low key because we've never had the money to do anything else. I'm fortunate that my children understand this and have never been demanding. We have a meal together and give gift, usually several little gifts rather than an expensive big one but I've never bought "necessaries" such as socks or clothing for my boys, it's always something that will give them joy.
We have a chicken and salad for lunch, unless they've aksed for something else. One year it was peanut butter sandwiches, so we feel fortunate if we can afford chicken :)
We decorate a tree on 1st December, but now the children are older and not quite so excited about it all, we leave that until later in the month. We have an artificial tree because I think its a bad idea to kill a tree for the few days of decoration.
Our tree is an artificial one but we have had tree branches or in one year, a real spruce tree which we then put in the garden.
There's no hassle for us, no stress it is what it's supposed to be, a happy time when we all get together and enjoy one another's company
