As part of a three-month North American trip, we're visiting Mazatlan, Mexico, for a week. Recently we've become aware of major crime issues. Anyone know the ropes?

I'll let you know, Carol-Lynn. This will be our third visit to Mexico. Previous visits to Tijuana back in '95... and a couple of weeks in Puerto Vallarta and Sayulita in 2008. The US government listed Mazatlan as a no-go zone recently... and cruise ships ceased docking there for some time. Just toured Alaska for a month and we're now enjoying Canada. US and Mexico next. Tough life, but someone has to do it!~
