A coffee when out is now a once in a while option.Being on age pension means i need to think how often i can have a coffee when out ..some places are dearer then others , others ffer deals eg coffee and cake .Just a small capuccini is $8 around here .

Coffee for a lot of people is a daily requirement. However, one regular sized cafe flat white is about $6 with no additives where I live. If I started adding special milk such as lactose free, oat, almond or adding caramel or vanilla syrup it'll be close to $7 or $8. If I have one a day, that would be lower end $42 and higher end $56 a week. As my coffee is pretty standard and nothing too fancy, it is on the lower end of the scale with some being even more expensive. Thus, it is not feasible to buy cafe coffee daily and I limit myself to once a week.
That said, I believe you should forego the expensive Cafe coffee even if you're taking a quality and taste hit and replace it with instant coffee. You can buy 100g Moccona for example for $10 on special or $14.50 off special at Woolworths. If a regular cup uses 4g of instant coffee, you'd have 25 cups of coffee for between $10-$14.50 a cup. Which in comparison is just under a month of coffees.
Comparing this to the Cafe coffees you'd be paying between $1050-$1400 for 25 days of regular flat white which in comparison to Moccona from Woolworths you'd be paying $10-14.50 which on the lower end of a Cafe regular flat white is a saving of $1040 or on the higher end a saving of $1385.50 for 25 days.
When you look solely on the savings, you'd want to either cut out Cafe coffees altogether or limit them. Furthermore, you could get something like Nescafe Sachets for example from Woolworths if you don't like plain instant coffee such as Moccona. These sachets are $8.00 for 10 or on special for $4.00 for 10. This is between 40c and 80c a cup. That is for 25 days $10 on sale and $20 not. Again, a huge saving compared to Cafe coffee.
Overall, there are many options way cheaper than cafe style and in my opinion instead of paying for a barista's wages, paying exuberant hot water fees and flavouring fees, you're better off searching a supermarket for cheaper options as there are plenty out there and making your own coffee. Yes, the taste/quality of store brought may not be as good as a Cafe coffee but the long term savings are definitely worth it.

I don't buy coffee from cafes as much as I used to, and I've found a reasonably good instant coffee for home.
