Considering how large Queensland is, how much of it have you been to? Visiting the Whitsundays in November I was absolutely delilghted with the Barrier Reef which comes under the heading of "has to be seen to be believed". One day I will get to the areas up north and then work my way down south.

Hi Goulah, the most memorable camping holiday was spent at Workman.s Beach, near Seventeen Seventy, north of Bundaberg. Wintering in Queensland from Tasmania is especially inviting. A stint of two weeks at a camping ground helps with the budget when travelling around. Only cold showers is a bit primitive, but not too bad on a warm day!

Simla: sadly I am a person who likes creature comforts and I am afraid that camping would have me worrying about creepy crawlies and not having "conveniences" to hand. Thanks for the thought...

Thats ok Goulah, I understand your concerns, thats why I sleep in my campervan, and have the pyrethrin fly spray at hand for ants and other pesky /dangers like wasps. I am all for 'hot showers' too . I invested in a 12volt shower - pump that uses a bucket of hot water. It's easy enough to heat up a kettle of hot water with a gas camp stove.
Still I would love to be able to intersperse these forays into nature with a few more opportunities to enjoy the creature comforts with those ''conveniences'' you mention.
Enjoy exploring, that's half the fun.

There are some wonderful deals out there from time to time. I was lucky to be put onto a travel agent who saved me about $1000 but more importantly, found me a "just right" holiday.

I hope you have a ball. Queensland is very large, very diverse & very beautiful. The only hang up I can see the viewing this beautiful state is the cost of travel. It is sad that is cheaper to go overseas that travel in our own country.
