The only item i get from KFC is the ultimate box, $12 something, 1 peice of chicken (usually a leg or breast) and a burger and large chips a potato and gravy and a 600m drink (I'm a pepsi max kinda guy)

Even though KFC is expensive I think it more affordable for larger families e.g. Buying a big bucket

Yes take out has become pretty expensive these days. I bought a meal from KCF a while back a think a normal popcorn meal and it was nearly $15! It is probably a good thing though because you would eat out less. And less face it takeout inst the best food, it taste so good but isn't the healthiest

I know what you mean. Recently they had $5 lunch menu and all it had was small chips, small popcorn chicken, a wing and a drink. I mean come on thats not a lunch box thats more like a snack box

I feel the same as you do the cost of take away food has really increased. My family have experienced the cost of food at Mcdonalds has gone up and is quite expensive as well.I agree that now it costs to much to eat out or to get take away food

KFC is the dearest fast food chain but, unfortunately I still find takeaway cheaper than fresh fruit and veg!

Anonymous

it is not that expensive because i went to kfc the other day and got a all stars box. also what is with putting the wing in a dinner box because there is hardly nothing on it and they should put more bigger peices in like: breast, leg and rib

If that is the cost for 2 pieces of chicken then mate that is dare! stop ripping your self and go buy you a pack or bag of chicken, put a cup of flour and a sachette of your favourite mix into a plastic bag together and mix throw in your chicken mix until the chicken is coat in the mixture lev for a while go throw some oil into a pot wait till hot when ready throw your chicken in and cook till crisppy making sure also your chicken is cooked, how? take chicken outta the pot poke with a folk to see if any blood running if not YOUR DONE!! if it is throw chicken back in heated oil for nother min or so, make sure the coating is crips golden too, DELICOUS!!. I have family of 6 and we call this Homemade Kentuky Chicken, emmmmmm!!!! Just think of all the money you save rather then whether you wanna cook or not. ;) :) Yes as family we save money by buying the ingerdients ourselvs and making it at home, hope this helps you.

KFC is one of the worst things you can buy! It's full of msg & preservatives along with a lot of other really horrid things that aren't good for you!!!!! The recipe has changed dramatically since it started in Australia in the 60's, It's nowhere near as good! Buy a cooked chook from a supermarket, It's better for you!

Yes, I am with u. KFC is very expensive. The best take away food is subway and few local restaurants. Infact Banjara restaurant or any Inidan restaurant is much cheaper and best quality tasty food we get foa low price. Try once. GoodDay.

I agree there doesnt seem to be value in take away anymore. To get a meal where you feel full afterwards you seem to need to spend alot of money.

Inflation? My KFC doesn't cost that must i don't think.
Actually in the last month or so Mcdonalds breakfast meal i order occasionally I noticed increased 0.50c. If it goes up 0.50c per year one day i might not be able to afford it. That may not be a bad thing.

I guess I'm lucky cos I think KFC tastes repulsive and greasy so I won't usually buy it but my daughter asked me to buy her a popcorn chicken combo and I was shocked at the price.

The closest fastfood outlet like that is an hour away, so we dont eat it often, though I did take my daughter to McDonalds (her choice, silly me) recently and was apalled at the cost of her happy meal. I wasnt very happy and we wont be going again.

Happily, I can't eat their muck. Instant headache.
Can't be the herbs & spices, must be the way it's cooked...
But, yes, it is over-priced. The others are no better - for price & often taste.
Stopped Oporto's due to the oil content, Nando's prices are hideous & no McD's for over 2 years.

Go down to a local supermarket and get a packet of Tandaco Southern Fried Chicken crumbs [sorry, it has been many years since U bought it, but I think that is the name], get a kilo of chicken [whole/wings/Maryland] and cut into pieces. Then soak for an hour or two in milk. Drain thoroughly!!!

Coat the chicken pieces with the crumb mix [I like to let it rest for a few minutes, your choice], and then deep or pan fry, and then Drain/rest for a couple of minutes.

Mashed potato is easy [boil/mash+butter?], gravy... I's use Gravox.

I like a mixture of sweet [orange] potato and the usual white potato for a change in flavour. Maybe with a bit of cayenne pepper...

Lots of Love,
Kevin... XXXo

Chips/potato and gravy... I'd leave that to you.

kfc is an absolute waste of time and money and is expensive and unhealthy. sometimes it can be all oily and greasey and taste so gross. me and my partner and young daughter use to buy it as a treat once a month but we havent had it for quite a while now we are so put off by it that we spend our money elsewhere like mcdonalds or burgerking or subway those places arent so expensive and the food tastes better than kfc.

I agree, i went to burger king once, had one of there coupons and spent $55 bucks there i nearly died when she told me the price, Kfc is also expensive,we dont get takeaways very often because there so expenxsive, cheaper to make ur own,

If you can cook, at present it is cheaper to buy the food and cook it yourself. Of course when you cook your own food you know exactly what is in it and you don't need to use preservatives to prolong its shelf life.
Despite the cost of takeaway food I haven't noticed any outlets going bankrupt from lack of customers yet.

We only have take away food once a fortnight due to a tight budget. Our favourite take away is one and a half hours away from our property so this is another good reason not to have it more often. We usually have a Kebab on our shopping trip to our nearest big town and this is absolutely great. Good quality food and plenty of flavour. It costs about $15.00 but is worth it.

Fast food at home has been my answer to the rip offs I experienced for too long. I now cook my own "kentucky" and it is twice as nice and takes less time to cook than it takes to drive down to the store. I know how the chicken has been cooked and I know how clean my kitchen and hands are! Fast food has done its dash with me!

CAT, Omg, I like your words. When we finally get around to get the OLDIES Political Party off the ground, you can do the press releases. LOL

Hi paradox! Thanks for your comments. I guess wise words come with age or is it age comes with wise words or words are wiser with age?? I love words and writing down my thoughts and opinions in this forum has become one of my most favourite pass times. As for the OLDIES (but goodies) Political Party I think we could be a good team and would absollutely do a damn sight better job than the mob doing such a lousy job right now. Take care - catch you next time.

Fast does not necessarily equal cheap. We use the vouchers and dockets for cheap meals and get good value from those. It pays to look around and price up the deals to see what is better value. Often in the supermarket you can pick up a roast chook for under $5 if its at the end of its time frame. Add a marked down salad and a reduced packet of bread rolls and thats a cheap feed!!

Often the suposedly 'cheaper' takeaway options such as KFC, McDonalds, Burger King end up costing the same if not more than 'gourmet' takeaway options like BurgerFuel, Kebab shops, self-service chinese.
A large burger from burgerfuel for example is $7 - 10 bigger and more filling so you don't always 'need' the addon's like fries etc.
What's better is these other options are usually healthier.

Yes, expensive it is;
Reasons, according to me: Overhead costs increasing; Fuel costs trickle down to every item and get passed on to the customer;
Brand name - as people do continue to pay for consistent & good quality items.

They just sent out a sheet of coupons for various different meals, that is the only reason I will go there, if it is on special, because yes it has got very expensive.

At least yours was cooked!! I went on Sunday night, got the food home, dished it up, we sat down to enjoy a rare take away night (no dishes, no cooking, and to hell with my very strict budget!) and the chicken was bloody!! No one would eat it!
So out come the pots and pans, the take away is thrown in the bin, and I.m left with a very sad looking budget. Take away had just cost me a fortune and I didn't even get to taste it and yes it was expensive!!!!

YOU SHOULD HAVE TAKEN IT BACK IMMEDIATELY. I have a policy now if the product I get is not up to standard or actually the product I ordered..... doesn't matter if it is from a fast food outlet or a supermarket. I complain like hell.

And guess what you usually get either a replacement or a free meal another time.
Example: Had a problem with some filo pastry recently.. bought one lot and could not used it, as I was committed to the dish I was making I went to another tore and purchased the same product very similar story.
GOT onto the net and explained the problem, and how disappointed I was.
They sent me a $20 gift card to be used at a supermarket. The TOTAL cost of my 2 purchases was about $8. Same deal with McDonalds ordered seared wrap and received crispy. Got straight on the phone and they took all the details and next time I went through I received a free replacement. DON'T OVER DO THIS BE GENUINE.........

You should have returned it for a refund. At least complained.

Well Jade, that's another story!! I did complain. Firstly I went to the website which was very strange as it had no direct way of making a customer complaint. After an hour of searching the internet I found a link I thought might work so I sent an email of to USA head office outlining my problem. In the complaint I had to state what country I was from so this made me think I would never hear from them again.
Alas, yesterday I received an email saying my complaint had been registered and it was labelled feedback number...BLAH< BLAH< BLAH!!! and that was it. No sorry or anything like that. What a waste of time I thought.
But wait, there's more, today was my day off and I would usually sleep in but I was woke by an early morning phone call!!!! Lo and behold the franchisee owner of the actual take away restaurant I had visited.
He said "I bet you thought you wouldn't be contacted!" He had that right! I then had an early morning converstation of my problem and he thanked me for bringing it to his attention.
He was happy because he said that particular store had been losing profits and he couldn't figure out why. Well now he knew!!! I mustn't have been the only upset customer.
Needless to say he went away with valuable information about his business and I was up super dooper early on my day off!

That does sound really exorbitant - and sometimes when you look at the size of the chicken pieces it would be better dubbed Kentucky Fried Canary.

KFC is always been so expensive and thats why they are not as successful as Mcdonalds or other Fast food chains.. KFC has great food but they really need to rethink their prices before something just as nice pops up and offers better prices..
