Hi Keerah
I think most of us are affected in some way by the way things are going. I think the cost of living affects all of us in some way - each week when I do my grocery shop, I find prices have often increased from the week before. It must be so hard for so many people, and while I am trying to tighten the purse strings a bit, I felt I had to give a donation when the Salvos called and told me about how many families are doing it tough.
But there are other things as well that are affecting us all. The political landscape is so unsettled, and amazing to me that Pauline Hanson is apparently now more popular than the PM. I worry about how our country is heading. There is so much uneasiness in our country at the moment; I think this feeling of unsettledness also comes from what is happening all over the world. Things we took for granted, such as a reliance on the US in case of conflict, we can no longer rely on.
I also believe that AI is overall not a good thing, and that the speed at which it is permeating our society is really worrying. What will happen to our young people - will they ever learn to think for themselves? Certainly in my lifetime - which is quite a few years; I'm a senior - I have never felt this unsure about so much in the world. And I feel really quite scared of what is to come, how it will all end up. I hope to be not around when it gets that bad.
But I try not to let it get me down. I want to enjoy my life, and luckily can do that because I like simplicty. Just being kind, enjoying good friendships, taking time to help others when needed. I also think listening to others whose opinions is completely opposite to our own is the thing I struggle wth most. I find it so hard to see why they think the way they do, and really wish I didn't have to deal with such people. Mostly I avoid them, but I think I need to learn how to listen to their views more, and try to find some common ground . But some people's ideas are so radical and so diametrically opposed to my own that in reality I just want to ignore or turn away from such people...... I have much to learn, but I think being kind to all others is the best any of us can do!
Keerah, you are interested in how we are coping, but what about you - it would be good to know why you ask this question, it sounds like maybe you are also struggling to make sense of things right now.
