For three months I have been looking for a job . It’s been a rude shock to discover how hard it is to even get your resume or cover letter written .
I have loads of experience and am open to different wages high or low but .. I have experienced offers that dissolve , resumes and cover letters never opened not even by ai . Companies that arrange interviews and don’t show . Recruiters that have no follow through . Companies that promise to get back to you by x that don’t . Ai helping yet hindering to write cover letters ( cause god forbid a bot disregards your application) .
All up I have applied for 37 jobs . I finally have a job only because this small company was switched on and descisive
I have a colleague in the same situation but younger . He has experienced the same . It’s as if the world had gone mad . How are all you jobseekers going to? I know it’s tough . In fact it’s ludicrous.

The world hasn’t just become a jungle; I experienced all that stuff as far back as 1986-87. Finding a job in a chosen field can be brutal.
Don’t take it personally and don’t give up. Often there are many forces at play e.g.
sometimes a person is already earmarked for a position, but it’s advertised anyway just to test the market and the position, as you put it…evaporates
Other times they go through the whole process of recruitment and selection, then select the person in house, but go through the sham just to demonstrate the process was fair and open.
These antics are usually played out by large corporations, speaking of which, you could be easily cut out from a position by a person whose been a professional student for the last 10 years while you were actually out in the workforce achieving results. Large corporations value pieces of paper while small business value track record.
Don’t be disheartened, you’re not doing anything wrong.
My recommendations:
Contact people you know (who are employed) and ask them to offer your name up if positions become available in their organisation – many positions get filled by friends and family of existing employees and never get advertised.
Consider entering the world of temp work. I know many a people who found themselves retained as fulltime after entering the company to as a temporary employee while someone was off on extended leave.
If you haven’t already done so, consider how your skill set might be applied to a broader range of jobs. Cast a wider net. Maybe even outline your skills to AI and ask for a list of roles to which those skills apply.
All the best and good luck.
