What to do about eggs?

I don't know how everyone here is 'travelling' but my last visit to the supermarket was uneventful vis a vis the eggs shelf. It was grim. Not talking about the price, but their absence.
I noticed the initial egg shortage was met with customer complaints, if not panic. Then followed some derision from the checkout ladies who joked amongst themselves about the sudden community NEED for eggs. So now I’m wondering, how is everyone coping with the egg shortage? Are you rushing out building chicken pens in your backyards, what are people substituting eggs with in their recipes or are we avoiding foods that require eggs altogether?
