Replies 2Discussion: Adds on pay tv
I had been paying for Austar TV for fifteen years and in the last three years I had noticed the huge increase of adds for actual products and not for the tv shows. It finally got to much and I cancelled my subscription, you would have thought I was thier last customer. I had a phone call nearly every day for a week and about the same sms's telling me how much they were improving the service. Until then the only time you heard from them was when you were late making a payment. With the new free to air digetel channels I do not miss pay tv that much, only I can not get my favourite westen shows anymore.

I understand that they need to make money but the amount that we pay a month for the whole package with extra boxes makes me really dislike them. I do like that the AFL that they show is ad free during the game which is one of the main reasons that we decided to go with pay tv in the first place, when that changes I dont know if it is worth keeping any more.

I think the purpose of Pay TV is to show TV shows that the free to air channels do not which it does so I don't see any harm in having ads run throughout the shows (hence why I still have Foxtel and watch it). You'll probably notice this will occur on the new free to air digital channels too once more people tune to them as well I imagine..
if the only reason you miss Pay TV is because you can't watch the Western Show then i think it was a wise move to cancel the subscription and save yourself some money :)
