A few years ago I saw a new Oroton handbag in the op shop. It had a price tag of $15 stuck over the original tag of $615. I told the saleswoman who said that was okay. I gave her a donation of an extra $100 but still felt guilty I got it so cheaply.

I have been searching for a cream lace table cloth. I found one in a charity shop today, either brand new or near new.
Prior to this successfuI purchase I have checked with a few retailers to no avail.

I am not an avid Op shopper but I have found a few good things in my travels. I have found a Mikasa Vase brand new for $3. Just recently I found some brand new still in packaging mens long sleeved white Van Haussen shirts for $3 each. (RRP $50!) and I once found a pristine copy of a Hard cover Andy Pandy book from the early 60's.

Never found treasure, but I always find nice clothes, so much cheaper than buying from department stores...my wardrobe is almost all second hand, my family also give me the clothes they don't wear anymore and I love my clothes, simple, easy and comfortable...why spend so much money on expensive clothes, a skirt costs almost over $30 dollars. I grabbed about 4 for $12 almost brand new from the op shop....

Always and will always op shop first. Gone are the days of finding treasure I think. And if there was a chance all the rich, antique, bargain shoppers would have already gotten it.

I havent found treasure, I think that would be found before it reaches the shop shelves. Some op shops have a valuer check out things they think are valuable. But I enjoy shopping in most, some have got very costly considering it is donated

You are correct all round with your answers bj, as my mum works at a Red Cross shop and they certainly have any jewelry that they feel is "real", valued at a local jewelers. And then anything that is "gold" or gold plate etc is priced by what the jeweler suggests/accordingly, which is some times still a bargain, but some times not. They have increased all of there prices throughout the store more as every year goes by. Yes it is donated goods, they are getting the same thing as feedback about being higher priced from the public but unfortunately it has become a business where figures are what matters now! There are mostly all volunteers, like my mum, but the manager is a paid position and there are other bills to cover unfortunately! Things have become too focused on profit.. But back to does anyone find a bargain, yes you can but it depends whether you need the bargain or you are just buying because it's an expensive brand etc..There are many answers and there are y things that may be a bargain to you but not to me. I have had some great finds and it's a buzz, but I have also realised, it's only if I need it!!
