Replies 29Discussion: Lack of surveys
Have you noticed that once your signed up for online surveys, things seem to slow down then after a while stop altogether? I personally am a member of many online survey sites and these days I'm lucky to get 1 survey a month. So lets us know how your going with online survey sites and if your having the same issues as myself.

seranita says: I complainedabout this to another site and was told they only send you offers when they nearly reach the end of their requirements. They told me it is better to simply log on and have a look. Since then things have improved.I have 2 Bunnings vouchers coming, some in my pay pal account and some into my bank .Not large amounts but it all helps.Good luck

survey companies want a diverse rannge of demographics. Once you've filled in a survey - if you are the least bit ordinary - you get slowed and dropped
The survey companies want people from all parts of the demographic spectrum, so black, lesbian nuns are likely to be in more surveys because there are so few of them, wheras white male computer geeks flood the internet and survey sites so they miss out more often - there may be two BLNs and 20,000 WMCGs and the survey companies want responses from four or five of those demographics - so you see why you miss out
and don't get upset if you are a female computer geek - this is for a guide only - lpullman

What the survey companies want is a sample set that matches the distribution of the population of the demographic they are surveying. Survey companies want a broad spread of members, not because they want to include one of each "type", but because need a big enough sample set to represent the general population.
To use your example, assuming that 1 to 10,000 is the proportion of black lesbian nuns to white male computer geeks in the general population, then NEITHER will receive more surveys than the other. BLNs will receive NO more surveys because that would make them over represented in the sample set, while WMCGs will receive no fewer because they would then be under respresented.
Now if the survey was targeted at nuns - maybe on the subject of bad habits (JOKE, JOKE) - then since the general population of nuns is smaller, BLNs would make up a higher proportion, but they will still receive proportionally no more surveys.
This is a gross oversimplification, but serves for illustration. I think you are confusing sampling with the demographic break down that comes later in the ****ysis.
My theroy is that polling is seasonal. If there are fewer surveys, it's because there is less polling going on. When there is less polling going on, people notice and start to check more often so what surveys there are get filled more rapidly. Maybe a few people get discouraged and drop out, thus reducing the size of the sample and increasing the likely hood of any member getting a survey. The next round of market research comes around and we are all happy again.

Most give you nothing. I have dropped out of most survey sites. Only joined here today so I hope its productive.

I find with every survey site, Unless you actually Pay money, then you'll be lucky to get 5-10 surveys a year (Unless your Inactive, then sometimes they want you back), they just dont wanna loose money. Its all for profit.
