Hi All,
I am still struggling to come to terms with the sudden passing of Phillip Hughes, aged 25. A shot he would have played hundreds of times, but for some reason this time it all went wrong and hit him underneath his right ear. After hearing the doctors explain the extent of the injury it is just so hard to believe. I was watching it being streamed at the time, and thought he would be a bit shaken up and then be ok, then when I saw the panic in all the players, I started to also panic and think, something is terribly wrong. The out poring of grief has been incredible.
Michael Clark has copped a lot of flack over the years as people don't like him, but I tell you he has been nothing short of amazing, and how he managed to read out his statement on behalf of the ACB is still beyond me.
I was watching the test match between New Zealand & Pakistan, and I cant explain the sombre mood, Both teams were just going through the motions, no appealing, the batsman just walking. It was very hard to watch, I cant imagine how they managed to go out there and play.
I knew the Brisbane Test would be postponed, as there was just no way the players would be able to play that game the day after Phillips funeral.

I also am very concerned about poor Sean Abbott, the bowler & also Phillips friend.
I doubt he will ever play the game again, I sincerely hope that is not the case, & I know he has all the support around him, but how will he ever get over something like that.

Just so sad, I had tears rolling down my face listening to Michael Clarke reading his statement. I will be watching the funeral to somehow pay my respects to Phillip Hughes, I know it is going to be very sad.

I send my love & deepest sympathy to Phillips parents, brother & sister and to all his friends.
God Bless you Phillip, taken too soon.
Thinking of you all
Love Lisa

Hey Lisa,

I am watching the Boxing Day test right now and I don't know if its just me, but it still feels like Phil is on everyones' minds. David Warner is already under so much pressure as the Australian opener and losing a best mate like that can pop into your head without warning (I lost a mate at the end of October so I'm with him on that). I know he is a professional sportsman as are they all, but I can't help but cut them some slack.

RIP Hughesy and good on you for your support and for being so caring, Lise.
All the best and here's to a safe season for all,
Dave

Hi Dave,
I must agree, but the thing I just don't get it Mitchell Johnson hitting Kohli yesterday, I was almost like watching PH getting hit al over again, and he just turned and walked away? Its not the first time he has hit him, but not in almost the exact same way, I was watching and listening to grandstand and Drew Morphett, went silent and then said, gee that looked very similar t what we seen few weeks ago? It looked awful, I felt sick, they only replayed it a couple of times, funny that!
How does Johnson think that would make Smith, Warner feel watching that, & Clark up in the channel nine commentary? I noticed, Lyon was the only one who walked over to him.
I just don't understand it, I think it had some effect on him as he had none for at end of play.
I think it is very poor play by Johnson, I know that's about all he has is the short ball, but considering what happened, Very disappointing.
I did like Kohli's reply in his presser after the game, but in all seriousness, we could of easily had another PH incident yesterday.

Thanks for you reply and seasons greetings, I hope you had a lovely Christmas.
Cheers,
Lisa :)
