Yes, definitely. They are an art form and a way of expressing yourself without having to say anything. you can tell alot about what a person wears, and this form of communications is constantly evolving and changing.

Agree 100%, I think clothes tell a lot about a person i.e. - whether they're lazy, motivated, stressed, tired, proffesional etc.

Anonymous
  • 10th Apr 2013 10:30am

defiantly, it brings out your personality.

Anonymous
  • 9th Apr 2013 10:39am

In a way, yes I do.

Yes, because it shows our personalities, like of colours or no colour (black) and to show or not to show skin or figures

Some women feel they should wear clothes that show a lot of skin to attract a man but it will end up being the wrong kind of man if he just wants you for your body.

If we cover up more with clothes we can attract a more respectful man that will want a long term relationship due to we aren't showing too much skin for other men to prev on. He will also feel safe in the relationship that you aren't going to cheat either if you wear more clothing.

Clothing should not cost as much as it does these days either. Hundreds or thousands of dollars for an outfit is ridiculous despite the quality.
Kmart etc are perfectly good stores to shop at and there clothes are cheap in price as well as everything else.

Clothes should not be taken too seriously when it comes to school or everyday life. Who cares if you wear the same jeans a few days in the same week.
As I said clothes are getting less and less affordable these days to wear a different pair of pants everyday.

So as I said, in a way yes clothes are important and in another ways they aren't.

I think clothes are so important not just because they keep you warm but because they
- Allow you to express yourself (you can tell a lot from someones outfit)
- It allows you to get intimate (because you can take off clothing)
- It allows people to accentuate parts of their body

Yes, clothes and appearance tell a lot about a person. You don't have to spend thousands to look good. As long as the clothes fit properly, you can look like you did spend thousands though. You can also look cheap and nasty when you've spent a lot on an outfit. Dress for your shape

Are clothes important? i think they are, i would not like to walk around naked everywhere, although i guess if EVERYONE was naked, then wearing clothes would seem strange.

The type of clothes one wears doesn't always say a lot about the person wearing them. I usually wear clothes that fit me and are comfortable.
Regardless of if what you are wearing cost $5 or $5000, it doesn't change who you are as a person.

I do believe that what you wear determines on how you are treated, especially by strangers.

Try going into a high end department store wearing old but comfy and tidy clothes and then again wearing expensive brand name clothes. You WILL be treated differently. I don't believe it is right, but it's just how things seem to be.

Maybe we should all learn to not judge a book by it's cover from time to time. The cover could be all torn and ratty, but it could be the best book you've ever read in your life.

The only real reason I think that clothes are important is this. As far as I'm concerned when I am out I want to feel as though I am at least looking reasonably decent. It's really wrong that we should be judged by our clothes, but I think we are. For this same reason I always wear make-up. Apart from everything else I believe it makes me look a bit better, and this gives me a bit of a lift. However, one evening after spending a day out with my husband I took a make-up remover wipe to my face, and having used it saw that there was not a thing on it. I told the light of my life who replied that he hadn't noticed that I had no make-up on because I looked so lovely all day. Great save.

Liz12
  • 10th Oct 2012 05:09pm

Yes! Clothes are extremely important. Not only do they provide insulation against the elements they are an outlet for creativity, co-ordination and confidence. Clothing can say a lot or a little about the person adorned. Many use clothing to show off their style/ personality whilst others, fashion victims, merely follow the crowd.
I don't think a person should be judged based purely on their clothes however they are usually a good indicator of social standing.

Yes of course they are, but to what extent.
I dont think paying $100 for a top when u can something very simillar for a third of the price is a must but i think that clothes promote individualty.
Theres also so many different stlyes due to the many many different countries that have different ideas in what fashion is and whats acceptable at different ages.

Anonymous

I both agree and disagree depending on situation. As with many replies clothes can make people feel confident and renewed. I have also seen clothes as the downfall to people either by others making that person feel like they are not deserving of them. Questioning peoples intention for their dress. Wonder if they have obtained them of their own efforts or others. I have seen people spend what they cannot afford just to keep up with the latest fashion set and feel bad about everything else because of it. I personally believe that clothes are an extension of ones perspective of themselves. If you are happy with yourself and what you see then it reflects not only in what you wear but how you wear it

i think that they are important due to the fact of how we live today, to most people now, looking good is one of the top priorities. more and more often people are being labelled as skanks, bogans, try hards and all sorts. this is the reason why clothes are important

Anonymous
  • 1st Oct 2012 03:21pm

Clothes are very important as it shows just how much we take pride in our personal appearance. Also it gives us a boost when we look good and it shows we look after ourselves when we dress well. We don't have to have the latest look or expensive brand named clothes as there are plenty affordable discounted clothes available on the market. We should always show our individuality and not be a follower but have our own personal style that suits our personality and of course our body type.
