This is a charity I support with my whole heart. I fear they are often overlooked because nobody thinks that the death of a child could ever happen to them.
S.I.D.S and kids are a wonderful charity who provide grieving parents with "parent counsellors" who are parents who have lost children themselves.
SIDS and kids also provide help to families who have been suddenly struck by the death of a child to support the grieving parents.
Then there is the research side of it where they are trying s desperately to find the cause of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and therefore stop it from happening to any more families.
How do you feel about donating to this organisation? Do you feel it is as important as cancer foundations?

I agree that this is a cause which is MORE than valid. In Australia we have Red Nose Day which donates to research.
I worked for over 10 years as an Early Childhood nurse and saw the change from placing sleeping infants on their tummies to sleeping them prone. This one measure has had huge impacts on the incidence rate of SIDS.
The loss of any life is TRAGIC but the loss of a baby or child is almost too much to bear.

Having had experiende of losing a dear little boy (Grandson number 1) to SIDS, I can heartily agree. This is an insidious thing. What makes it worse is that it only takes babies who are totally defenseless and innocent. Our family also had the misfortune of losing his unknown (to him, that is) younger brother to febrile convultions 3 years later. He was only 21 months old. Both these deaths caused so much sadness and grief. The repercussions were like eddies in the local pond.

Help Caféstudy members by responding to their questions, or ask your own in Café Chat, and you will get the chance of earning extra rewards. Caféstudy will match these and donate equally to our two chosen Australian charities.
