Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had any children who have qirks while asleep or falling asleep?
Like Grinding teeth
Head banging
snoring
talking in their sleep etc.
I have recently become very aware of a "parasomnia" called Rhythmic Movement Disorder (RMD) in which a child will violently bang their head into a pillow or roll back and forth in their bed.
I thought I would open this discussion as I am certain that my children are not the only ones who have quirks while sleeping.

Hi,
My daughter is a difficult one when asleep. she will quite often still be asleep but be crying as if she is having a nightmare. she has often fallen out of bed or will wake herself up and run into me. There has only been a few nights that she has slept all night.
It can be quite hard to know what to do as I have tried everything I can think of. Thanks for the discussion category.

My nearly 3 yr old often sleep walks and talks. I have even gone into her and she will be sitting in the middle of her bed rocking and staring into the corner of the ceiling. I just lay her back down and she is fine after that. She does grind her teeth but only when she hasn't coped well during the day and ended up having a meltdown.

My oldest daughter had sleep apnoea. As a newborn her motion monitor had regular "false alarms", it wanst until she was diagnoised that I released they werent false.
She used to snore loudly, have breaks in her breathing, was sweaty, mouth breathed and woke throughout the night screaming. She would often fall out of her bed and sleep walk.
She was diagnoised at age 3, but I was too afraid for her to have an operation at that stage. A year later on xmas eve, she had her tonils and adnoids removed.
She suddenly slept quietly and through the night. I use to check that she was still breathing as I could no longer hear her snore!

i have a nearly 3yr old son and so far so good with him. when i was a child i suffered from sleep walking and talking and i used to unlock the back door and go outside sometimes.(well so i got told by my mum!) as an adult i am ok and i think that my sleep disorders or quirks were linked to the trauma that i had as a child
