Adelaide Metro Bus Service

As a Disability Pensioner who has to use a Walker at all times, I am furious that only about half of the Buses are Wheelchair Friendly and particularly in the Metro area. Also Drivers are not supposed to assist anyone onto the bus due to Workers Compensation rules and so we who are already disabled and at great risk or further damage have to do it ourselves. No buses should have stairs and All have at least one wheelchair friendly entry point. When is our Govt going to stop wasting money on things that do not assist the people of our State and Get With It?

Not only your Govt is like this as we have the same problem in Victoria & our Govt spent about 1 & a half billion dollars on a ticketing system that is still not working. We need to employ someone from Switzerland to sort out the public transport system as i have been lucky enough to use their system & its on time & clean yes no graffity. I think we need a disabled polition to speak on our behalf & maybe then we will get what we need to try & live a normal life.

all pollies are disabled at the mouth.(they just can't tell the truth.)yet that is a normal life to them.

Hi Marty and thanks for replying. I forgot to add that our ticketing system is not so hot either LOL One (supposedly an hours) ride I had from Adelaide was free due to the ticket machine not working, nor was the bell. Thank goodness the engine didn't break down!!! I am going to make a noise with our local member on behalf on we disabled, the aged and the young mums with babes in pushers. Especially now in Summer. Funnily enough all the city buses have good facilities but we who live out in the suburbs (mainly disabled, aged etc and our votes are not so important) get the dregs. A disabled politician would get the best so not use to us. The responsible minister for transport should spend a couple of weeks with walkers and prams..... might make more of an impact. Until then, if I end up more injured or as is probable a paraplegic, it is going to cost them in the courts.
