I have a pet sheep he is now 3 years old and is called Sundown as he was prematurely born and he was a twin unfortunately I could not save the ewe. People tend to think of sheep as just there but believe me every sheep has a different personality, Sundown knows that we keep pellets in the kitchen for the chickens and when I come home from the shops he just barges past me and gets his head stuck into the bag of pellets, The pic is when he was little with my dog Sebastian who was a smithfield unfortunately he died from a paralysis tick when he was 5. So we only have chickens and of course Sundown.

Hi, I'm from New Zealand and work on a farm looking after 3500 sheep and was taken with your story. Your lamb looks in good health and was sorry to hear about your smithfeild as I use them to do sheep work and I also breed them.

This discussion brings back awesome memories. We had a pet lamb growing up...Freckles. We had her since she was a teeny lamb. Every time she had babies she would have twins...every time!! We had about a dozen sheep and if we had to move them all we needed to do was to lead Freckles and the rest would follow. She wore a bright blue collar and had gorgeous freckles on her nose. If I ever move to a farm again...I will definitely getting another pet sheep.
and yes...they definitely have their own personality :-)

hi channonangel when my children were small we had a new born sheep, the girls loved giving her the bottle of milk, people say sheep are stupid but really they are quite intelligent, my husband built a hut for her and when it rained or got too hot she would go in there oh and by the way we called her susie, when she was full grown we had to take her to our friends farm and that was so sad to leave her, when we went back to see her she was happy because she had a mate next thing she was giving birth so it ended up well, i feel that any animal that you give love to responds back don't you thinh?

Loved reading your sheep story. But as to being stupid - you have never been droving and had them try to jump over one another under the horse you are on. My Grandson had a sheep come and visit his class throught last year, he was a great hit with all the children and I think there should be more of this for city kids. Our pet household consists of a dog, a cat and 2 dwarf rabbits and now they are wanting a fish tank, think I'll have to find a bigger house as we are all animal lovers.
