is it a myth or is it necessary to washing your hair twice in a cycle. Does it change your hair in any way?

You loose vital and natural oils in your hair if you wash too much. Just wash when u feel you need too

I prefer the results when I wash twice. The first wash gets the grease out and the second cleans.

I have read lots of beauty columns which suggests 2 shampoos which I have trialled and agree with. One over you whole hair creating big bubbles and then a second closer to the scalp creating smaller bubbles. I have found this keeps hair cleaner for longer. When it comes to conditioner I think the trick it to leave it in for 3-5 minutes

I think yes the more you wash your hairs the more your hairs get change but there is drawback too you might get hair fall problem as I remember my brother used to wash his hairs few times a day with shampoo when he was eighteen but now his hairs falling rapidly after few years

I asked my hairdresser and was told it depends on each person’s hair and the activity each day. He uses two shampoos in the salon as my hair is coloured but a “normal wash” only needed one shampoo. He further said that the main thing is to use a high quality product.

I wash my hair once a week, but after washing my hair it just feels so light and i get less acne.

I have friends who can go without washing their hair for 3-7 days! I can never go for that long. By day 2 my hair will already look like i dipped my fingers in oil and ran it through my hair. I usually wash once in the morning just before I head out, then once more again in the evening after the long day. Each time I wash, I use a shampoo and a conditioner. If I don't condition my hair after every wash, it gets a little matted and feels really tangled and I don't want to pull my brush too hard on my hair so I just save the brushing effort by using a conditioner

Good question and as I live in the country now I only wash and condition my hair twice a week. When I lived and work in the city with all it's grime, three times a week wash and condition,as I would be able to smell the smog in my hair. I am 65 now and have gone away from silicone hair conditions as well.

I shampoo my hair only once....on the average of twice a week. I have naturally oily hair.

i don't think its necessary to shampoo twice! hairdressers do because it makes your hair super clean but then they apply products to it as they dry and style your hair. if you do it at home twice each time you wash your hair it will strip it of all the natural oils and will damage your hair eventually.

I only was when its needed, say hot day or dirty, dusty day
Only condition all other times, my hair much nicer for it

It can strip the hair of natural oils so yes it may change it slightly.

It is because the first lot of shampoo prepares you hair for the second lot thoroughly cleansing your hair and scalp. Afterwards it can be conditioned making your hair look and smell nice.

If you've been working in a grotty situation. Renovations or gardening or working under a car then you may need to wash your hair twice. Otherwise no! Use your discretion. Normally, once is enough . . . .

Thanks Gordo. I thought that might be the case. If for instance you have a colour in your it also lets the colour fade more and I guess last longer if only one shampoo and a colour lasting conditioner.

Hi Gordo, thanks. I also thought there might be some insight into selling us more shampoo, that's all. Also a bit like the packaging getting smaller in contents but the price rising!
