they don't want to talk anymore about that subject because they know that is good for the chemical business .

government departments do not really know about toxic chemicals. They are in the political arena. They are not toxicologists, nor are they chemists. Alsp the companies that manufacyure these chemicals do not generally disclose the hazards of contact. They might say that the chemical MAY cause this or that effect. Did you know that hair shampoos, toothpaste and sgower gels all available from the suparmarket have 2 very naughty ingredients. One is propylene glycol [definitely known to be carcinogenic] which is also used in anti-freeze, and in hydraulic fluid!! The other is sodium laureth [or lauren] sulfate. This is also carcinogenic. This is also a commercial cleaner [makes your hair squeeky clean. Both of these chemicals have a micron weight less than our skin. Our skin is not a perfect barrier. And of course when we are in the shower, we are warm and our pores are wider!! Also the mucous membrane in our mouth is very porous. That means the toothpaste is absorbed. Have you noticed how there is a "children under the age of 6 need to be supervised"? This is because they cannot spit. They only swallow. no wonder the cancer rates have gone through the roof. I retired from nursing in May after 50 + years, and I am really appalled at the increase in disease. If you want to know moreask me Shirley

Food coming out of China mostly contains chemicals banned in Australia but our government does not test for them as they don't want to know. It might upset the trade agreement with China. It has also been proven that New Zealand imports food from China then packs it and labels it "Product of New Zealand" but only the packaging is New Zealand produce. The rest is food contaminated with chemicals from China. They don't have to declare it as there is an unrestricted trade agreement between New Zealand and Australia. I will no longer purchase anything from New Zealand as I do not trust them. I also will not purchase food which comes from China.

Everyday chemicals are dangerous to the body so in my mind people should own up and become more clean/green, as natural at possible for optimum health.

DDT, arsenic, lead etc are known toxin to human body. Most medication of taken in high doses will be toxins.
It is not that easy to conclusively say that a chemical is carcinogen. The research needed for one chemical is a daunting task. You can do animal studies but can't extrapolate results to the humans. Very broadly speaking origin of a cancer depends on our gentic make up and environmental exposure. Scientifically one can only prove this by exposing humans of roughly similar heritage, differing only in exposure to this chemical are who are followed up for a very long duration. Even this best model has flaws of its own. The report which generally filter in the media is the anecdotal evidence.
In my opinion, our food intake, which we can control should be as natural as possible in today's world.

Kiki, what info do you need ,ie,DDT dieldren 245t,or any carcinogenic chemical,if you handled pesticides /herbicides in the years 1955 to the late 60's.the above chemicals were in use, alsu arsenic was used in most chemicals, when the specialist ran checks on me he found evidence of arsenic poisoning, and I still carry dieldren,DDt,and other foreign substances in my body ,but I have had military compensation accept this fact

There is a strong lobby group from Chemical and Pharmaceutical companies to keep their products on the market. Most governments only act against a product when it has been shown without a doubt to cause problems. This can sometimes take years to do, while we still suffer from the effects of these products. There are many products banned in the UK and USA, but our government still allows them to be used here.

Raksha, most companies do their own testing etc of their products, and untill something goes astray no one carries out any tests to prove they are good or bad to humans

I agree with Solstice, while they can say it is not a fact, or rather not admit it is a fact, they feel they don't have to take any action

If they admit that there is a problem that then makes them liable, thats something they don't want to recognise.

it has taken me a long time to prove that persons who handled herbicides/pesticides in the 50's and 60's,with no protection, and used these pesticides etc over a specified period, can lodge a claim against gov bodies...most people are not aware of that everyday chemicals, were carcinogenic,
