it's interesting how we become fixated on a issue with out fully understanding what exactly the issue is about.
yes we are subjected to chemicals that have carcenogenic compounds too them,
but what i have to wonder about quite often is how much of these chemicals we eat in every day food, as too me this would be a large area of concern due to poor quality of our so callled healthy food.

Dear Caitlan, you have a lot more knowledge about the subject[paracetamol]than I ,so I will not argue the toss about it regards Dag

Paracetamol is actually a proven carcinogenic. And Australia now has one of the highest rates of non-prescription drug use in the world. If we stopped taking a tablet every time we had a mild headache, but rather went outside and got some fresh air for a few minutes, we would be significantly lowering our risk of cancer, let alone our risk of addiction or liver poisoning!

I've always regard paracetomol as a placebo 'cause I've never felt any analgesic effect. I was told by a doctor that I sold some equipment to that nearly 20% of the population exibit reduced effectiveness and once you allow for the placebo effect in studies around 8% of subjects report no effect at all.
Good old asprin on the other hand works a treat. As does codine, but as I ride a motorcylce I'll save the opiates in case I really need them. I don't want to build up any sort of tollerance ;-)

Dear Dag
As a med student, we learn about the pharmacology side of medicine as well. obviously, pharmaceutical companies are not going to openly state this, as they would suffer extremely from the drop in sales.
Continul use of paracetamol can lead to cancer, no matter if you abuse it (and hve an addiction) or if you use it only when you really need to.
Regards, Caitlin

Dear Caitlan,I have not come across any adverse reports on paracetamol, but then again it probably depends on the doseage and etc kind regards Dag

This topic is interesting. I am in Perth and there is a health issues group I go to once a month, we sometimes have a speaker on different subjects.
Todays speaker was talking about chemical sensitivity problems and what chemicals do to our bodies.
We have a member who suffers from chemical sensitivity and she is going to be giving us a talk before the end of the year on the daily problems she has just to exist in the society we have where everything is full of chemicals.

Dear Toot ,I still have ,dieldren and DDT,and other carcinogenic chemicals in my body, been there since 1958,have lost 2children due to being exposed to these chemicals,my other 2 children have health problems.

How about the malaria that was almost eliminated due to DDT, or don't you care that Africans have to suffer such a debilitating disease?
lpullman
My guess is a few hundred thousand cancer cases at most versus millions not dead before they are thirty. Set and match to DDT if not match.

Having grown up in a malarial country (New Guinea) and taken quinine tablets every week - I assume because I was too young to be given a G&T - I'd like to point out that malaria is alive and well and making a comeback. My Dad died of complications due to malaria - admittedly it was 30 years after he contracted it.
But I certainly take your point. I see a lot of people bad mouthing the very technologies that gave them the standard of living they enjoy. I suggest such people go an live in the third world for a couple of years before you bag what gave us our easy life.
dag
well Job you research DDT,and other carcinogenic chemicals, and work out the ratio of the good and bad situations
sammie
i have never even herd of this what is it?
dag
google carcinogenic chemicals and the medical problems that are caused by them,ie cancer being one
