In no way should this poor breed be put down or banned as pets, it is not the dogs fault if they have a horrible owner who has raised them from a pup to fight or be vicious. That is the owners fault, they should be the ones punished, not the dogs and there are a lot of rehabilitation stories of pitbulls becoming amazing family pets after being trained to fight or be vicious. FACT: There are more attacks from smaller breeds such as mini-poodles, jack russell etc. and what a lot of people don't know is a blue heeler is more likely to be more vicious then a pitbull or any other bully breeds due the their close relation to dingos. I have an american staffy and english staffy they are both big sooks who love little kids and love people and there dogs. My next door neighbour has 3 pitbulls and they are the most gentle loving things I've ever come across, they are so mis understood. A dog is not born vicious, they are raised vicious by their owner/s and it happens with every breed. It's people who have given this dog a bad name, because they use them for fighting and the reason behind using this breed specifically is because they are one of the most loyal, tough and dedicated dogs to their owner, no matter how poorly they are treated by them they are always loyal to the hand that feeds it and raises it. In some dogs they have something that isn't working right in their brain and they can't control their behaviour like some humans who are murderers, psychopaths etc. These are rogue dogs and happen in every breed. If you can come up with something to fight what I have just said then please let me hear it. People are to blame here not the DOGS!

As having owned a pitbull myself, aged 20, assistant in nursing of aged care and disability for 3 years, I believe the pitbulls are just as anything else given new life. They will behave how they are taught and react to how they are being treated accordingly. My pitbull, ask anyone that knew her, was an incredible creature. Loyal. Obedient. Smart. Every great attribute a mans best friend could possibly have.

My niece has a pitbull and she is the gentlest dog on the planet. A dog should not be judged because of it's breed, if bred by responsible breeders, it would have a gentle nature bred into it , and if well socialised and schooled there shouldn't be a problem with behaviour. Imagine if people were judged as badly as animals, dogs especially, there would be a lot people put down because of their breeding. Give all dogs a go.

I personally think there is aggression in all breeds be the big or small. Breeding and training have a lot to do with a dogs learnt behaviour.

WHENOWNINA PITBULL IT IS NOT THE BREED IT IS THE OWNER, IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW THE DOG IS RAISED IF IT IS HOWN LOVE AND AFFECTION AND IS ALWAYS AROUND THE FAMILY THEN THAT IS HOW IT WILL BE, IF IT IS MIS TREATED AND ABUSED THEN IT WILL BE VISCIOUS AND SAVAGE I WISH SOME PEOPLE WOULD GIVE THIS BEUATIFULBREED AND DECENT CHANCE IN THIS WORLD AND TAKE THE TIME TO SEE THAT THEY ARE NOT AS BAD AS WHAT EVERYONE MAKES THEM OUT TO BE

It is wrong to put a dog downn just because of its breed. Pitbulls do have the disadvantage of having the jaw that locks. Honestly, if they insist on doing something, put a muzzle on them, death is an extreme example of fear mungering

I think it's terrible that people believe pitbulls should be put down just because of their breed. The stereotype that they are all aggressive is ridiculous. Some pit bulls may be vicious but it's not because of their breed, it's because of the way their owners have trained them. Pit bulls are not vicious unless they are trained to be, they are just like any other dog. They definitely should not be put down just because of a ridiculous stereotype.

I think pit bulls are no more aggressive than any other breed. Back in the old days, they were nanny dogs and it was German Shepherds who were the breed put down the most. You wouldn't hear about it if a little dog mauled someone's face off or people would think it's funny but if it's a big dog growling at a kid everyone wants blood.

it shouldn't! I was disgusted yesterday to see a video of an American police officer shoot a pitbull. another officer already had the hook around its neck.if they had a hook around their neck would they be the calmest? no. but im sure they wouldn't be shot!
