Do you love the falling autumn leaves or the blooming flowers in spring? You may possibly follow the summer and winter solstice and the rituals that come with that? Perhaps you live in the Northern Territory - in which case you're either hot and dry or hot and wet? And I'm sure our NZ friends welcome the summer months with open arms, enjoying a well-earned break from the blistering cold. Maybe you're a skier or a surfer? Or a proud green (or brown) thumbed gardener?

I love the spring when the flowers bloom and the tulip season is on.
And the weather is not very hot and not very cold.

I am also able to spend more time in the garden.
Also one ritual in Spring is Spring cleaning which I do room by room.

Personally i think that winter is the best season of all just because autumn and spring are like a mixture of summer and winter so its either wet and humid or its cold and dry which isn't too bad but i just prefer to have a constant weather pattern (not that that's easy with global warming and all...). Any way i prefer winter over summer because during summer it get hot, humid and downright uncomfortable! but in winter all you need to do is put on a jumper and some long pants and you've conquered the cold!

I love Summer, i want to be out more in the outdoors and for some reason the hotter it is the better it is, In winter I want to be a bear and hibernate, I enjoy bushwalking in summer and jumping into waterholes along the way

Yes I love them except for the fact that not all people are capable of cleaning up leaves, blooms etc. when they drop onto the footpath or road. They clog up the stormwater drains if too much is washed down at the same time, sometimes running into waterways and out to sea in some cases. It can cause dangerous algi in some cases. Maybe the council should clean areas around their trees more rgularly then these issues would occur a lot less frequently.
I know the leaves absorb toxic gases and release oxygen so it is a very difficult situation.

I love spring. At this time of the year you can feel a little chiliness in the wind, sometimes it rains, the afternoon are enjoyable infront of a sea beach. During daytime we can leaves falling off the trees, new leaves and flowers blossoms which is just amazing to see different colors of the nature in one season.

Winter in Brisbane Australia is pretty close to perfect!! A cool breeze and warm sun combined you cannot beat it!! You can lie in the sun and it is not strong but you have warmth and cool air flowing around you, it is sensational...I prefer cooler months because I have poor lymphatic drainage and get too hot in summer. Summer in Brisbane Australia is an absolute nightmare to say the least....The humidity is often 95-100% and you feel like there is not enough oxygen in the air!! Give me cooler Brisbane anyday...it is like a dream!!

Seasons. I can't say I do have a favourite because each one brings something and is so different from the last.
Summer - hot, beach loving days when you just want to swim and tan and sip on ice cold drinks.
Autumn - slight chill in the air whilst you watch everything shift that shade of red, yellow, gold.
Winter - that time of the year everyone dreads but I love. You get to snuggle up warm inside and wrap yourself up when you are outside with a cup of hot chocolate.
Spring - everything comes to life, bright colours, new things, reminds me of new beginnings.

I love the winter. Cozy warmth, inside movie days and hearty meals. Great season for my dogs to constantly walk at any time of the day.

Summer is fast becoming a season I am loving though too for the first time in my life. Only because my dogs love the ocean and swimming all day. These days I am fast beginning to enjoy also.

My favourite season would have to be Autumn. It is a time then for renewal. Leave the old behind and embrace the new. The season is both warm and sometimes cool. I love the change in colours on leaves and the crisp sound they make when you walk over them. I love the wind. I don't like it when its too hot or too cold and spring on recent years gives me hayfever. Spring would definately come up as my second fab season with medication of course.

Yes! I love autumn, there is a gentle poetry in golden leaves falling, which were once juicy and green, letting the spring light through their veil. I love the variety of colour in the Adelaide hills in Australia. I love spring, the moments when out of seemingly dry trees with their gnarly shapes, action bursts. New life begins, again. I like winter too, all the cosy days and nights in doors, roasts for dinner, candle light. I really am not fond of Aussie summers, because the heat is so harsh, the sun so damaging, but on the up side, the beaches are very good, sandy and far stretching.

every season has its beauty.. winter my least favourite but i love the smell of the wood fire and hybernating, i feel no pressure to head out in the cold. summer is lovely with its heat which i dont mind but i gotta love the warm nights. only drawback is flies, snakes and bushfires. autumn has its beauty in its trees and flowers and spring has its beauty in the animals and birds giving birth to the young. in fact today i lovedd being out on the back patio watching a family of magpies trying to teach a young one to fly.. this was 40min of relaxation and entertainment while i learned a bit more by watching

I enjoy all seasons. I love when spring arrives after a freezing cold winter. Knowing that summer and outdoor fun is to follow. I look forward to autumn after the excessive heat of summer knowing that winter is to follow.
If I had to pick one I don't think I could.
Perhaps I'd pick two, Autumn and Spring.

I prefer winter to summer because you can always dress more warmly when it gets colder, rather than relying on power-hungry, carbon-producing appliances to achieve the desired level of comfort, whereas there is a limit to the amount of clothing that you can remove as the temperature rises! Besides, you can go outside in winter without slathering yourself on chemical-laden lotions or creams.

My favourite season here in southern Victoria though is autumn. Cool mornings without being chilly; mild, sunny days without getting uncomfortably hot; balmy evenings without the annoying mosquitos; and the added benefit these days of daylight savings producing evenings that are "just long enough".

Winter in Brisbane, has been a bit cooler and rainy lately but usually the days are beautiful. A bit cooler at night and early morning but with blanket and warm socks I'm snug as a bug in a rug.
NZ, my birth place I like the summer (in Auckland and Northland) I'd like to spend every summer over there as I don't enjoy the humidity or the cockroaches here.
Also love spring.( not the attacking magpies tho') great time for picnics and being outside.
We considered moving to Stanthorpe at one stage. It gets very cold there but it's a crisp kind of cold.

Hi Hilary, I'm with you! I was born in Brisbane and love the winters there.I'm living in Tasmania now. Bit too cold in winter for me. Zero or thereabouts overnight. Cold days, overcast mostly or raining. I spent a year in NZ, North Island. I think you have the right idea.Spend summers over there (or in Tassie, nice temperature here in summer- rarely gets over 28 degrees) and head north for winter. Queensland is beaut in winter, just keep going north till it's warm enough for you! Then when it gets too hot, start heading south again. Become like a migrating bird. Another option is to live on the Atherton Tableland, Kurandah is warm, tropical rainforest, go up higher till it gets cool,Ravenshoe 's up in the clouds and mist, like Fairyland, nice and cool. I have a friend in Stanthorpe, she agrees that it is really cold there in winter, but frosty nights means a lot of bright sunny days. Higher barometric pressure means it's better for arthritis too.

I love Springtime, the blooming flowers in Spring...This season lifts up my spirit.
I also love autumn but Summer is the weather that I love the most and the season when I'm usually happy everyday. You can do a lot of fun things in Summer e.g., fishing, camping, picnic lunches, swimming, holidays and Christmas etc.
Winter is cold and gloomy and I don't like it very much at all. We hardly do anything at winter and we just stay home mostly.

I would much prefer Winter to Summer as I can rug up in the winter but it is not acceptible for a woman to run around almost naked in the very hot summers that we have here.

As a matter of interest I have discussed this with many people and found out that for 80% of people, it depends on what month of the year they were born. I was born in Winter and my daughter who was born in the middle of a heatwave loves Summer and this works for 80% but not all. I have friends who were both born in the one town in the month of July, but one loves Summer while the other loves Winter, and there are others like them.

You don't have to over dress to keep warm , or you don't have to go hunting for air conditioners to keep cool. you can work outside with out breaking into a sweat Spring delivers lots of fresh fruit off you own trees & some come in autumn too.

I was born in the Northern hemisphere and I used to fear the cold of winter and wish with all my heart I could just hibernate like a bear all through winter. Cold is invigorating and snow is beautiful, magic and fun,,,when sunny. When it blocks roads, rails, roofs and pipes, it s just too much.
Now that I have been living many years in Nz in an area where every season is just right, never extreme, I just embrace each 4 of them for what they bring.
Either I swim in the rivers in summer, walk in the colours of the autumn leaves, pottle around the spring's garden or just curl up under the blanket with the hot bottle and a good book ,,or a cafe chat:-)
It s nice to enjoy any weather for what it does to nature, and to us.
It s ok to slow down in winter, we have less energy available, just like plants or animals, we need to rest to renew and bloom again.

I'm starting to really dislike Winter, maybe it's because I'm getting older, but it takes me ages to get myself moving in this cold weather (believe me it's cold here in Flowerdale) by the time I've thawed out it's time to go to bed. Give me Spring or in a pinch early Summer, I want the warm weather so I can go outside in the garden.

sorry everyone - i like autumn into winter - crisp/cold at sunrise - you know you're alive! must admit the short daylight hours in winter are a negative, but those hours are just so much more valuable and beautiful than endless inescapeable HEAT (in winter we can rug up - body warm, safe , face cold but feeling reality on the skin).
into Spring is enjoyable, then the ongoing heat of summer - where everyone runs to air con for survival (resource wastage).
i long for the return to autumn - crisp air, nature's colours, brilliant sunrises.

i live in Central Coast, NSW, so winter isn't too severe there, but i lived 2 winters in Armidale working as a gardener and thoroughly enjoyed pruning the roses as snow fell (but making sure to be well rugged up).

I'm a summer girl, the hotter the better. Blue sky, sunshine, flowers blooming, bees buzzing, beach, icecream, shorts and t-shirt, heavenly. Even when I lived in Darwin and Cairns it was never too hot, just a bit humid sometimes. I'd spend all my life in sandals shorts and a top if I could.

summer all the way for me. I hate the cold weather. During the summer the days are ;longer and you can be outside all day and all night if you wish. There is so much more time to do whatever you wish. In the winter time it is too cold and depressing to go out so I tend to stay indoors a lot more. Summer for me means achieving alot more, doing more activities and a better social life.

Hi Rainbow! I love the changes that the four seasons bring. Summer for the light meals, cool drinks, daylight saving and air con! Autumn for the colours, the gentle light and the crunch of dry leaves under my feet! Winter for the a cozy fire (or heater), soft woolie jumpers, slippers and dressing gowns. Hot soup and stews and staying indoors curled up with a good book. Then Spring is lovely with everything being new, baby animals and birds, flowers and trees coming back to life. I am from America and love the Melbourne weather because you can get four seasons in one day sometimes. Where I come from the winters are horendous and the summers can be the same and it doesn't just last for two or three days it can go on for weeks. To me the winters in Melbourne are like Autumn in Iowa where I lived for 18 years. A winter day in Iowa can be 30 to 40 degress below zero with wind chill factors as high as 100 below so you can understand when I say a cold Melbourne winter day of 12C or 53.6 F is not cold. In summer we may get a few days of 40+ but it doesn't linger on for weeks like it does in Iowa. I can remember a summer when I went home for a visit and for 2 weeks the temp. at night never went below 30c with no breeze and during the day it was 40+. So for me I don't have one part of the year that I don't like but I do really enjoy the spring when the roses come out and the birds are singing. For all the readers out there picture driving your car out onto a lake and drilling a hole in the ice so you can fish. Now that is cold.

NZ has 'blistering cold'?
I'm a former Canadian, who has had a car not start because the petrol froze in the lines. Who survived the Ice Storm of '98, 7 days no electricity, only candlelight and woodheat at -5 to -12C temperatures.
So what season do I love here? ALL of them! I grump at the heat as I swelter in WA, but love it. I cook hearty stews in the cold of winter, but NEVER, ever have to dig myself out of snow to get to work.
This is the lucky country, and I am a lucky woman for being here!

I used to love summer in Canada, and the first summers here were a shock! But for me, now, late Spring and early Autumn are perfect. I love any season that lets me garden! In Aus., that is every season...whereas in Canada, from October to May there was NOTHING.

I do not like the heat of summer so for me my favourite seasons are autumn and spring for temperature. In spring though there is the beauty of all the new plant life with lots of beautiful colour. So I suppose that makes spring my favourite. I do not mind winter as long as there is good heating.

I love winter. I love to enjoy my hot soup and stay warm in winter and of course a nice cup of tea with a whole family is really pleasure for me. When I have nothing to do I just relax in sun with my little son at backyard. I love to play in snow and it's really good time to enjoy holiday in the place like snow mountain. I love winter.

I'm a person who loves the mild summer days, the cool winter days, and the rainy days too. I love to garden, fish and when it's raining, cook and lay in bed and read. I am adaptable as far as weather goes, but I'm not a fan of 35 or more degrees of summer heat.
I spend many happy hours in the house or garden, but enjoy my trips to the beach for fishing or a walk too.
I'd have to say I love all seasons, but my favourite is definitely Autumn. That's the time I spend the longest in the garden. I live in Qld and I think the weather here is the best.

I used to love the colder months but over the last three and a half years I have lost half my body weight and now I feel the cold terribly so as much as I love the autumn leaves falling and lighting the fire at home, I long for summer to return so that I can feel warm again.

I like the autumn in Melbourne. The weather is usually reliable and not too hot and the traffic on the Mornington Peninsula is better than in the summer months. Don't have a problem with falling leaves as we have all evergreens planted.

I love Spring. After the cold and dreary skies of winter it's great to enjoy the warmth of Spring. I love gardens in Spring with all of the new blooms bursting forth with new life and colour.

In my garden Spring is a great time for the many birds that suddenly appear after the cold winter months.

I used to love Summer and hate Winter. I married someone who loves Winter and hates Summer. So over the years I've learnt to appreciate the different seasons and now I enjoy the variety God's given us. I can even look forward to the fresh feeling of icy air on my face and the crystal clear air that is such a contrast to the haze of Summer.

My favourite season is summer. I love not getting up early in the morning and not being cold, pottering around the backyard feeling the warmth of the sun all over you, I love swimming that's probably the reason why I love summer so much, I am a shift worker and after a long night shift there is nothing better than popping into the local swimming pool for a relaxing leisurely swim, lying in the sun reading a book and just feeling warm all over. In the summer I find I have so much more energy and tend to do a lot more things and am a lot more active, winter time I find is just depressing, layers and layers of clothes, cold when you get out of bed, can't be bothered doing anything because it is too cold, I really believe in the Seasonal Depression Syndrome, I always feel horrible all during winter.

I'm with you Kreative. I love the Autumn and Spring equally. Glorious sunny days, interspersed with rain. Autumn has the colors and Spring brings boundless renewed energy.
In Central Victoria, summers are extremely hot, and Winters are extremely cold. I suffer them both, and tend to hibernate, except on the few temperate days. Summer is probably the worst as I hate to see the garden suffering and have to keep water up to the garden.

My bulbs were up and flowering a fortnight ago here in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, except for the freesias, which have come up but not flowered yet!

Ah lovely, my mum has lived on the gold coast of Australia for the last 25years, and I still have to send her pics of my fresias, tulips and daffs because it is the one thing she misses.
I of course revel in mine and keep telling her to come home, but Ma says they are better to pensioners than we are in NZ.

i love the winter, I tend to have more energy and i dont tend to slow down with the heat. in Winter I love all the soups and casseroles and stews and just the feeling of warm fleecys and heaters. the family tends to see a bit more of each other also.It maybe because its too cold to do a lot of activities outside. My children are older maybe parents with small children love the sun to be warm, so they can go outside to play.
