I also tried HRT which never helped as well as Chinese medicine and health store products the best thing l ever came across that got my life back to normal was a cream they especially mixed up for me on a script a lot of doctors will not do this only certain ones do , its compounded and works so well another customer advised me to see a certain doctor where l lived that was a specialist in change of life problems , Progesterone cream they call it , it is the only thing that gave me my sanity back as before that life was a big night mare day and night .All you do is put so much on your arm or leg and rub it in to the skin .Hope this helps you nusanan it certainly works well .

It's not much fun being a females at times. I'm 54 and think I am probably heading into menopause. I have just missed two months after being regular for many years. I have had various postmenopausal symptoms for about 10 years and now the hot flushes are very frequent. I took evening primrose for a few months and it actually helped with that, and I was skeptical.
In terms of even older females, my mother had a hysterectomy many years ago and is still experiencing hot flushes at 77 years of age. So perhaps long-term symptoms are not uncommon. Evening primrose was ineffective for my mother, and she was on HRT until all the health warning came out about them.

I found if you grate fresh ginger and soak it over night in lemon juice and a little honey and then - run the ligquid through a sieive and add either soda water or fizzy mineral water - it is refreshing and seems to help with the symptoms

Thank you all for your replies hot flushes are the least of the problems.I was on HRT for years and had to stop because of bleeding had D&C but didnt stop so had to stop the treatment that was 15 yrs ago since then each month my bits swell so i have difficulty urinating and get costipated and its incredibly painful. The gyno put me back on HRT but that was worse and i get really depressed.Might try natural med see if that works but i spoke once to a naturopath and he didnt sound to convincing perhaps i should find a female. Thanks again all

Hi nusanan,
Just came across your post. Wondering how you're feeling now?
Have experienced the exact same symptoms as you describe, to the point where I couldn't do/go anywhere because of constantly sweating (extreme sweating) no matter the temp. It was awful. Finally after persisting to try & find a doctor who would, first listen and understand the situation as it was just out of control. Changing 4 times a night, 2 showers a day maybe more, finally I have been put in to esqalis sequin patches.
All my symptoms went within a week!
Now I feel like a normal person, wearing jumpers in winter instead of the shirts and still sweating.
I'd hope by now you've been out onto something that will help you too.
I found your post as I'm posting about the difficulty in finding a new doctor, after my doctor retired after 25 years
What a nitemare it is.....
Anyway hope you're well
:)

Oh I sympathise with you nusanan. I have been "hot flushing: for years too. I do not take any medication but I do use some foods which do help reduce the symptoms. Pomegranite is helpful (syrup diluted in juice or water) herbal teas such as rasberry is also helpful. Get informatiom from your local health food shop or online if you use a computer. I still get the odd flush but since watching my diet I do have less.

I started at 50 and am still on HRT at 60 and find that if I go off this medication my bi-polar gets a whole lot worse.

Hi nusanan, I have been on Ovestin since I started menopause at 39yrsof age and I read all sorts of stories about how I would get cancer and I was to stop taking them but all the symptoms came back so i still take this mild HRT it's only 1mg and I will be 67 in a short while. I do believe there is a natural product for this condition but I have not tried this. Let me know how you get on. I shall say a prayer for you. God Bless and good luck with this. Marcia
