Definitely wear them! If you feel like it looks better then you'll be more comfortable and confident.

It certainly does depend on the style of the garment and also your own shape. I have very straight shoulders, so always when I used to sew my own clothes I would have to straighten out the shoulder seams as they always sloped and never sat correctly on me. The big shoulders of the 80s looked superb on me though.
Most people have slightly sloping shoulders, others very sloped and possibly more rounded as we age. If you are of the latter, perhaps the shoulder pads serve to give you a more upright youthful look ?
Just because pads had a 'fad' period, where everyone and every style carried sometimes overly exaggerated pads, just because it was fashionable, does not mean they cannot be used in a subtle way in today's fashion.
Best of luck.

Personally I wouldn't. It's well past the 80's much as I loved that era. To figure out whether or not your outfit looks better with or without the shoulder pads ask several friends or family members who you trust for their advice. They need to see you in the outfit so their opinion is valid. Hope the wedding goes well.
