Vietnam travel

Next on our list is Vietnam. We've had previous trips to Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, but have never visited Vietnam before. This will probably be two separate trips, one to NV and one to SV, due to weather considerations. Has anyone had any experience motorcycling in Vietnam? We're experienced RTW riders* (43 years riding) but local knowledge of a foreign country always helps!~

888shelley says: We have just returned in September from Vietnam, We flew direct to Hanoi and went on "Sleeping bus" to Hue(o/night) car to Hoi An, train to HCM city. It was relatively easy. Did you know there is a 60 kph speed limit for ALL Vietnam which means long trips to get anywhere, and traffic is ultra crazy (known locally as "fighting buffalo") in 4 rush hours each day. We were in Viet for 3 weeks, lovely people and food, next trip we may do Dalat , NhaTrang and other areas. Reply

Paulie says: Thanks, Shelley. We've previously biked through SEA, so we're au fait with traffic dramas... . The 60 kph speed limit was a revelation! We need to do a lot more research. Grateful for your advice. Reply
