Hi all....Can anyone recommend an effective aid in helping to increase joint mobility? I have limited use of my fingers due to arthritis. I am currently taking glucosamine but have heard that it takes awhile to take effect so am getting quite frustrated. Can anyone help?

I backup "Gatesmate" about simple exercise, except I recommend seeing a "good" Physiotherapist who really knows their stuff about aches and pains, as you really need a physio to show you how to do the exercises/ stretches and correct any errors that you are making ( if you do exercises correctly, 1 or maybe 2 visits should usually be enough ). I have never broken any bones but I have torn ( partially or completely ) / or over-stretched most of the muscles, tendons, ligaments in my body. From my experience, exercise does not stop the pain but it helps you manage / control it. Good Luck.

Thanks everybody for your great tips! I will certainly be trying them out and hopefully find something that works for me too!

There is a lot of alternative these days and i praise God for it I've been watching people suffer with the expensive side effect of Prescription drug and I'm so upset while there is so much natural remedies that can help and my latest discovery is Mangoesteem juice its quite a miracle it does not tackle only one problem in your body it will fix everything that's not working its amazing its all your solution in one bottle yet some people believe more in prescription drug than simple remedies...if you want to know more drop me a line I will be please to help

I've suffered from joint and back pain for many years. The very best thing I've found to help is simple exercise. If it's done slowly and very carefully it works.
However the exercises must be the right ones. I was fortunate enough to have a doctor who gave me a couple of exercise sheets. Yes, I've also used glucosamine, and find it actually did help me. The only problem is that, because of my advanced age my memory sometimes is quite bad, and I kept forgetting to take it. With regard to your fingers, I also have arthritic fingers. My daughter's sister-in-law is a doctor, and one day she suggested that when my fingers are swollen I should just wriggle them. That was it. Each morning when I am drinking my tea, I sit and wriggle my fingers. It works for me, and may also work for you. I really hope so.

I recently stopped taking glucosamine also (had been taking it for about eight years). I have noticed no changes, so am now of the belief it was not helping me.

What does really help me is Blackmores Lyprinol. These are made from NZ Green Lipped Muscles. If I stop taking these I definitely feel a lot worse. They are quite expensive - around $45 from chemists, but I buy them from either Priceline or online from epharmacy.com.au when on special for around $22.

As we are all individuals, we have to work out what works best for yourself. Unfortunately this can take time and money to figure out.

I wish you all the best in finding relief from your pain.

Hi Nefertari, I have osteo arthritis and use a cream called Exit Pain that I got from the chemist. I also use panadol osteo if I know that I am going to be upright for a long time ie shopping. I have tried glucosamine in the past but it had no effect on me.

Hi,

I too have aches and pains and I am finding that rubbing with ELMORE OIL is giving me quite a bit of relief especially at night.

2 extensive studies in Europe this year could not find glucosimine or condroitin effective.Sorry.
I stopped taking them and nothing much happened.
Omega 3 oil at a rate of 9 1000mg tablets a day may be efficacious.

My mother has just started taking a vitamin supplement called joint support through Herbalife. She said that she has more mobility and less joint pain in her knees, hips and ankles in the last month than she has in years. If you would like to try it let me know and I can organise this for you.
