the quality of the item, how fresh it is, where it comes from, whether it is grown or made in Australia versus imported.

When I shop I always look at the price. These days everything is becoming more and more expensive and you don't get your money's worth these days, not like you used to and it's only getting worse.

I agree as well as these days everything is becoming more and more expensive. You don't get your money's worth for what you purchase like you used to.

shopping for australian made products is very important to me but price is most important at the moment. especially being unemployed, i guess australian made products are negotiable, as value for money is a must right now. as some australian made products can be quite alot dearer depending on specific item(s)

Shopping for locally made products is important to me as so many of our factories have shipped offshore.

Price is important to me as we are on a tight budget due to my husband having a life threatening disease with high medical expenses.

hi calamity, I have to watch the salt content in all foods and happy birthday

Hi flyingace, with the salt is it because of a health problem, that would be a hassle as most foods have salt in them and some too much. I don't like grocery shopping but it is a necessary evil. I am not into shopping but I do like browsing ops shops for items for my craft work. Shopping for my craft work is much more interesting than grocery or clothing shopping but I don't do much of that either.

Hi Calamity, thanks for replying and I also like to keep to a tight budget and I hope your husband gets well soon.

Thank you for your get well wishes for my husband but our doctor told us it is something he will probably have for life. I am a budget shopper and have always been so, which has really been helpful to me in life. I scan the store catalogues for specials and map out a route when I shop, so I don't have to double back. I don't need any clothes and a friend recently gave me money for my birthday and I bought two pairs of shoes so I am set for a long time now.

for me it is finding gluten free, preservative free or safe, low fat, sugar and salt and if using sweetener, that it is natural.

I also look for specials but am also on the lookout that the special may not always be the cheapest per unit or might be really poor quality. Believe it or not, some generics are quite good, others I would not touch.

I spend the majority on fresh produce at the markets. The taste and freshness (which means it lasts) is incomparable.

Hi Kreative I live in Adelaide and the parking is by the hour and it all adds up and thanks for letting me know.

Hi Kreative yes I find the generics brands just as good as the others and I would love to buy fresh food from the markets but its in the city and trying to find carparking is very hard.

hi tRicci sometimes I find specials that a good at Woolworths and Coles but not as good at IGA and Aldi. At foodland has the best cat food and always on specials.

Hello. I have to also agree with you on that one as I have shopped at aldi before and I have found that they aren't that much cheaper than the supermarkets so I just stick to shopping at Coles or Safeway.

Thanks for replying to my topic hi tRicci you are the first one to reply thanks and I agree with you but I do look whats on special because these days everything is so expensive.

I also think looking at things on special is a very good Idea as everything is so expensive thers days and buying things on special and putting them away is a good Idea too.

Ah Flyingace, I do not eat cat food. However where I live the Aldi store is 93kms away as is the Safeways & Coles stores. So when I go to town I generally only shop a Aldi. I do hwever go to Safeways for the tea I drink.

Yes, I hear what you are saying, and agree. I have found that the suprising thing about specials is that they are often the best when they come from stores such as IGA and Aldi. Would you agree?
