I have currently 25 fragrances in my collection, thats after using up a hand up and selling some i dont wear.
I love perfume, it's the only accessory I can't leave the house without and the only thing i really spend a bit of money on lol.
I have about 3 or 4 that I can't live without, and a few more that I like but won't replace, then the rest are blind online purchases.
I find im one of those people that wears a certain scent to match my mood, outfit, type of event im going to etc...

I adore my perfumes, always having about 4-5 to choose from. At the moment I have Anais Anais Elizabeth Arden, Beyonce, Jovan Musk and one other that escapes me at the moment, oh I just remembered it is called Tea Rose. I prefer the subtle floral tones for the day time and a more exotic perfume for an evening.

yes! I like them because they smell nice, when you are around but forget most of the time. Hence have to place visible to my eyes. I am using same fragrance over 5 years now. I will never buy 100ml again... unless I dont intend to spend money on it and have the original ideal having one in wardrobe.

I prefer wearing subtle perfume from either Victoria's Secret or The Body Shop and I myself do get headaches from strong scents so I definitely understand where you are coming from. I would recommend perfumes from the above brands I mentioned as they are mild and last the whole day.

It depends on the scent I don't like to wear perfume if it's too overpowering. I usually only get the urge to wear perfume if I'm going out on a nice event.

I wear perfume sometimes, but typically I use a scented lotion instead as I found the scent to be more subtle and is also good for the skin!

Well, some people have a strong odour that comes from their body, so wearing perfume covers it up. If it is too strong use a softer scent or maybe you are spraying too much

I prefer the mild one. Too strong of a scent is really a turn off.

I guess it depends on the perfume, and how much of it you wear. I absolutely love perfume. I tend to layer up too (not sure if this is good or bad, but I like it). My shower gel, lotion, roll-on deodorant, deodorant (spray) and the perfume(s) I choose to wear for the day are all scented, and I like it because I love smelling fresh and clean throughout the day - but I only do that for me, I like it - and women's perfumes are generally quite subtle, and I don't wear too much of it, so unless you were giving me a hug, or are directly beside/behind me, you wouldn't be able to smell my perfume.

I know that there are a few women's perfumes that are strong too - my mum's friend gave her an old lady perfume called Charlie (even though my mum is not an old lady yet!), and that made me sneeze and gave me a headache. Haha - but mercifully, there's not too many perfumes that do that. I think Dior is also famous for having some strong perfumes.

For the most part, we have a choice as to which ones we choose, and Elizabeth Arden, Beyonce and Rihanna have been some brands I wear often because they are amazing. Sophisticated, yet sweet and subtle scents.

Hypnotic poison by Dior is always will be my number 1 fragrance.
But yes, it's certainly a powerhouse scent lol. Spray lightly with most of the poison line thought, they're all pretty heavy

In my opinion, different people prefer different perfume. You just have to test before you buy.
If you do not like the strong smell, try to apply less or try milder perfume.

I have read with curiosity that certain perfumes give users a “headache”. Forgive me for my lack of understanding or empathy but how is this possible? I have smelled many perfumes over the years, both nice and horrible but I have never got a “headache” from male or female fragrances. So what happens, you spray it on and a while later you get a “headache?” Just like that!

In my opinion if one is prone to headaches then perhaps wearing expensive perfume is simply not for you.

I do wear perfume, my favourite is DKNY green be delicious or JPG classique, as a younger woman I love to know that I smell beautiful and attractive and it is just apart of my daily routine, however, recently I've been trying to look into perfumes that contain either no alcohol or have low alcohol amounts AND of course no animal testing.

i think that if they wear a subtle amount, enough so you can only smell it when you hug them or are within a close proximity, its fine. However if you can smell them and their stench overpowers the entire room, its too much.

I love wearing perfumes but certain scents give me migraines....Opium for example will bring on a migraine and yet I love Juicy Couture Juice Couture and that's a fairly strong smelling perfume but it has no affect on me.
Fame by Lady Ga Ga is amazing - you can smell the honey that is in it and it just smells creamy, smooth, sweet, warm, a beautiful fragrance - and I am NOT into celeb perfumes but this is a stunner!

If you are getting headaches from wearing perfume then I would suspect it is only due to the particular one which you have chosen. I therefore feel if you love to wear perfume then you should keep on trying different samples!
Personally i have found that the perfumes with certain ingredients such as the Passionfruit based ones also give me a very bad headache!!
I absolutely love wearing perfume everyday and often get compliments. It is for me part of my 'getting dressed' routine!
It is a Revlon perfume, however if I go for other flower based ones in the same Brand I find that they make me feel quite sick!
I absolutely feel that it is a matter of trial and error!! When you find one which suits and doesn't make you ILL THEN I SUGGEST YOU MAKE THIS,YOUR SIGNATURE PERFUME!
Perfume has three notes!! - the first is the first whiff that one gets!! Second is when it has had time to settle and thirdly is how itmreactsmwith your own particular skin type!
Some of us have very acidic skin type, others are more alkaline! I am very acidic to the point where I can't wear real gold as it turns black within the day!
Be aware of this when trying something and also remember never never rub it into your wrist etc. as perfume is made up of invisible bubbles and if you rub it in you are basically bursting these tiny little bubbles which give off the wonderful odour!
Keep trying! You just need to find out if you are a fruity, floral or spice type. Then find out what type of skin you have!
If a perfume smells wonderful on a friend then don't,assume it will smell good on you as it may actually smell revolting as it reacts to your particular skin!
This is the secret of tring to find your SIGNATURE PERFUME (one which will not give you a headache and believe me there is one out there just for you!!
Use the cards and spray three and put them in your car bedroom and somewhere else where you can smell it and see what happens after you have experienced them all after a,few hours!! Some you will know immediately!!
Also remember EXPENSIVE DOESN'T MEAN GREAT!! - good luck - NANETTE

I do love wearing perfume, but I do have close family and friends who suffer from people wearing the perfume. I must admit, I do not like cheap and nasty perfume, but even the most expensive perfume is not nice as well. A shuttle sweet our fume is best. Nothing like smelling nice, not strong !

I am the same...Strong perfume smells give me really bad headaches also. Usually, I go to a perfume place and get them to spray it on a card and then I walk away with that and wait to see if it agrees with me.
There are two perfumes that have never given me headaches and that is Innoxa Gingham and Cacheral Amor Amor (was in a red bottle)...hard to get now but I can buy online (phew). My chemist gives out samples and I spray on my wrist and at first.....it's okay and then 10 mins later, I am rubbing it off.
I cannot walk through Myers or DJs where they have all their perfumes......total headaches

There are many different fragrances out there. Every woman should have a fragrance wardrobe with a signature scent. If you have ever heard of LeReve, they have brilliant, quality designer parfums with layering products to match. If you don't like a strong scent, just a fragrant body moisturiser will probably suit you best...... You have to try them. I cannot say a bad word about them. I LOVE perfume. (the good quality stuff anyway)

I find myself wearing clean type smelling perfurm before i go to the gym so that i am feeling fresh and ready to exercise. Hi,
I'm a part of a Handmade Beauty course. We made parfum (a fancy french word for oil perfume) last week. I've been wearing it everyday for a fresh feel. If you have a sensitive nose, perhaps try make your own perfume, that way you have heaps of control over how strong it is. And this way you can spread your perfume to your friends and make sure they wear it too, parfum domination!

I used to use a lot more perfume than I do now. I have a lot of perfumes at home but find I only like using one small spray so that it is not overpowering. I like Coco Chanel, Chanel No.5 (La Premiere) and Givenchy L'Interdit (discontinued but I found a bottle it was the perfume my mum used to wear when I was young and brings back nice memories).

I have so many others but lately I am drawn to the more natural oils (floral) fragrances - jasmine in particular.

I also like using the Karma soap from Lush. Not only does it smell great on the skin but makes the whole bathroom smell nice after showering.

I know that this may sound rather silly, however, see if you can carry around with you some coffee beans perhaps in a small zip lock bag. you see the coffee aroma from the beans over ride the smell of strong perfume. I really does work as I suffer from the same problem. try it out. youll find it works.

I wear perfume everyday and I love it, I have 3 that I rotate for days and a Chanel that I only use when I'm going out at night and special occasions.

Yes flyingace, I do enjoy wearing perfume, but just one spray into the air, then walk through it.
That ensures that the application is subtle.
I also HATE perfume on others that is too strong. It's not the 'flavour' (although we all have our favorites) it's the strength (of any flavour) where too much, is offensive.
People often remark that they like my perfume, (even when I can't smell it any more), whatever the flavor, as I only use a couple of good quality, - heavier ones in Winter, and lighter sweeter ones in Summer.
I really believe it is the subtle application that is important.
Cheap perfumes always smell sickly, too much when first applied, then disappear, and never seem to echieve a subtlty!!

for special ocassions perfume is nice but i usually forget to wear it day to day. i agree that sometimes strong perfume can be very off putting and distracting on others.

I wear perfume but am really self-conscious about the way other people feel about them haha, I'm always asking people if they think it's okay. I think it mainly comes down to how you feel about the perfume (as long as you don't put too much on!)

Love parfumes, it gives me a start for the new day. However, it can be personal touch as well. A lot of people dont know how to choose parfume right way so it suits your mood and life style.

I love wearing perfume. I have a massive collection of all differnt smells. I like to wear different ones on different days to create different moods. You could try using a mist of sented oils, like the ones used for oil burners. These are quite nice and offer a lighter alternative to perfume ;)

I am the same, my head cant candle most perfume's but I have found 1 that smells beautiful without sending me into a coughing fit! Sex in the City Exotic. Smells devine! Also another thing I try to use instead of perfume is body oils. A personal favourite is Body Shop Vanilla body oil.

I agree with cat17 on the health issue of perfumes.. I used to wear perfumes few years ago but do not any longer. there is little or no regulations to what can go and actually goes into perfumes, a single perfume bottle can contain up to 2000 ingredients, many of which are questionable health wise. have you noticed that many perfume brands do not have ingredient lists?

I luv luv perfume!! and hav a huge range.. But only luv n buy the real thing (fairly expensive n branded) n hate cheap one's, knock of brands & impulse spray types.. 4 the following reasons!!!
- they smell cheap n go of fast
- not lasting long
- & impulse type sprays, once u sweat, it go's stale fast n smells nasty

** You'll find true brands n more expensive one's last most of the day (even wen u cant smell it on urself anymore) n with holds going of n stale even wen u sweat!!

** I do encourage u 2 try more scents - even the one's u dnt fancy at first.. because although real perfume smells similar on everyone who wears it!! it actually changes & smells different on everyone once you've sprayed it & its settled into your skin n own natural body scent.. takes bout 20mins to calm n you should notice it doesnt smell anywhere as stronge as it first did..
** and just because you cant smell it on urself as much later on? doesnt mean its worn of (its a good thing!!) means its settled n blended into ur natural body scent.. - just ask someone near you.. bet they can smell it n its great..
** cheap perfume doesnt settle n smells stronge till it go's stale.. But i guess u get wot u pay 4 hahh.. (just lik levi jeans that last 4 years compared to your cheap $20 kmart type jean) that fade's, zip breaks, button pops off or they fall apart within there first 20 wears hahaha..

Perfume reacts to the persons acid in the body giving a different scent compared to another person wearing the same scent. There are many light scents out there for you to choose. David Jones and Myers let people try their perfumes before selling them. That way you will know what you like and dislike. I can't stand it when people use body spray under their armpits. Pooooo!!!!! They stink!

I too can't stand most perfumes and get headaches if they're too strong. I prefer soft sweet scented perfumes, fruity or floral flavored. It's just a matter of finding the right ones. My favourite is White Diamond but only in very small doses and for special occasions. I wish other people wouldn't douse themselves in their perfumes as being in crowded public places can be hell sometimes.

I like to wear both spray and solid perfume. I have heard about a new 'Perfume Pill' that is currently still in developement. Your meant to swallow it (as you would with any other pill) and then the scent comes out of your pores. Personally I think it saounds a bit creepy.

Too many chemicals are being used in perfume manufacture these days. Pure essence is just too exapensive so chemicals are being used. I never wear perfume and find that other people's perfume is just awful. Walking through DJs or Myer with all that smelly stuff whofting through the air is overpowering. Those cheap shops that sell so called "well known brands" perfume at very low prices are really ripping off the public. That stuff is not perfume. Try not to use any artifical chemicals on your body - you will find your health will be better.

I love wearing perfume but there are some people who must be lathering it on!
A single spray is plenty and the scent is very important - sneezing shouldn't be induced by anyone's perfume. Personally I love some men's cologne but it's always a much more subtle scent.

I agree Pip, I love wearing perfume but I don't like to over do it. A simple spray on my chest and apply to one of my wrists and dab the other wrist on top is enough. If you spray too much it can be a massive over kill. However with mens cologne I can never get enough that.

I wear perfume ever day. I love having inspiring and calming scents around me. I mainly use pure essential oils as my perfumes though. At the moment I'm changing between Evodia Coconut & Lime body spray (yummo), Urban Rituelle Coconut & Kukui, Urban Rituelles Cotton Candy, Patchouli pure essential oil. Then with brand name perfumes I'm wearing Marc Jacobs Oh Lola!, Lolita Lempicka (the purple bottle).
I also get bad headaches with some perfumes, if they're too strong and it makes me feel so sick! I recentlt won a massive bottle of the new Versace Versus perfume, I was so excited but when I sprayed it, within minutes my head was pounding and I felt like I was going to throw up. My daughter loves it though, so she wears it.

Strong perfume is offputting especially on public transport but then again I rather have that than peoples body odour which is sickening. The only tip I can give you is to smell vanilla essence sprinkled on a hanky or tissue which combats strong odours. I would rather do that than have a migrane headache.

Hi Toni thanks for replying any kind of perfumes gives me headaches but mens is ok .
