People who slurp drinks, crunch popcorn, rattle chip bags and lolly papers irritate me. Then there are those who don't turn off their phones and chat loudly. I like to see and hear all of the movie. I even enjoy the movie trailers at the beginning! I know everyone has a right to eat and drink in a public place, but a few basic manners wouldn't go astray. Shhhhh...please.

And then there are those who keep turning their phones on regularly to check e-mails or text messages. They do not realise that light from their phones is distracting others. How inconsiderate !

I find for the main part people do start to settle down when the trailers start, but i get a little concerned when you can't live without your phone for about two hours.
As for tall people, i move when one sits in front of me, I either swap with a person who I'm with who'll actually be able to see above them, ask politely if that person can sit down a lil or just move in general.

I feel this is, in part, the fault of the increasing home entertainment system and relaxing values / rejecting the values of old. This is not in all parts a bad thing, but broken down it can obviously be annoying when it affects those around us. We crave comfort and let's be honest here, Cinemas aren't exactly the most comfortable place to go unless you want to spend the extra to get upgraded. This, I feel, solves the problem of ruder people who don't take Cinema as seriously as others do as a form of entertainment. With this in mind, I feel it's also got to do with the increased individualism in society. Some people go to the cinema to unwind with their friends and don't consider using chip packets a bad thing. In many ways, it's not - it seems to be your problem that you get irritated by other people enjoying snack food sold at the kiosk of the cinema. Popcorn is a staple of cinema. If you don't like hearing people crunch it, perhaps you should be leaning more toward your home entertainment system rather than being annoyed by others trying to enjoy themselves.

As far as the rest goes, well not turning off your phone and chatting loudly is obviously rude but I don't lump it in with the same thing as eating chips or lollies. These are basic rules of the cinema and breaking them should result in getting kicked out after a warning has been issued.

I totally agree. Especially the person with a strong body odour who sits beside me or even a really tall person who sits in front of me irritates me the most.

I fully agree with you! A lot of people are inconsiderate and don't think about others who actually want to watch the movie

I totally agree, you pay to see a movie on the big screen therefore you should beable to sit down, relax and enjoy the movie without having constant interruptions.
This is why i much prefer to wait until movies come out on DVD and go and hire them from the video store and watch it in the privacy of my own home where i can relax!!!

I agree, it bothers me a lot the light on the cell phone and the conversation of no end in the middle of the movie. What bothers me the most is that I go to the movies to enjoy the trailers and most important to avoid the 200 ads that are on tv that's why I go to the movies. Other thing that bothers me is that the ticket is getting more and more expensive and the screen is not even clean, you can see a lot of dirt through out the screen.

Sadly the way people act these days is conducent with the way they were brought up. The relaxation of corporal punishment and the freedom of one's speech has led to the habit of people not caring about other people's wants and the desire to enjoy themselves. I believe that society would be a better place if these controls were re-introduced as then perhaps we could enjoy going to the pictures again and being able to hear and see the entire picture in comfort.

Why don't you all just stay at home and stop whinging.

We're not whingers!!! Seems like you're one of the rudest people we're referring to.
Respect is everything. Pity some people aren't taught that whilst growing up, or maybe they were, then became pigs. Oink Oink!!

I fully agree with everything you mentioned plus they should get kicked out of the cinema using foul language. Cinemas used to be a nice place to enjoy a movie in times gone by but now it is becoming a headace because of irresponsible people.

Again the same situation arises. People have little respect for others. It is an unkind society that we live in today.
