I am an average body size, (12-14), but very lage bust and have a lot of trouble buying bras. I would like to know why an A,B,C,D,E cup can be bought at almost any department store or even discount store, with prices varying between $7 -$20. Yet I can barely find my size anywhere, and when I do, I need $100 -$120 for only ONE bra!!! I find this appalling. Just because I have bigger breasts than average I am forced to pay TEN TIMES the amount for one bra!! I am naturally this shape and have looked into breast reduction, but can't afford it and also scared of the idea of being cut into. Does anyone else have the same problem, if so, where do you find reasonably priced bras??

deb, I have no doubt that any large busted woman has a very difficult time buying bras. I am usually 16D, depending on the style and cut. I always look for wide strong straps too, as I like them to be firmly held supported.
Usually, I have to look among the biggest sizes, and I don't generally see much bigger than my size. So when I see people much bigger than myself, I often wonder, how they shop for bras.
Have tried to go cheap with the occasional find, but they don't have the substance to last.

Have you tried Storm In A D Cup.com.au? They have sexy and affordable bras for all sizes and I'm mean all sizes, particularly plus sizes.
I completely understand the restrictions you go through being big-busted. I tend to just finally find a good brand and stick to it forever. I can rarely be adventurous or go to any random underwear store and expect to walk out with the perfect bra. I always have to go to the same place, whom I know will stock my size. Sucks!
I'm considering breast reduction surgery but my boyfriend disagrees :(

I'm not sure where you would find larger bras but why not take sewing lessons making your own bras and sleepwear to your liking. That way you will have everything you like at a much cheaper price. I have small boobs but am thinking of buying a sewing machine and doing the same saving heaps of money. Good luck Deb!

I feel your pain babe!! I don't know why but it seems to be that some/most bra manufacturers seem to think that to have large boobs you need to be of a larger physical shape/size. MY TIP is to find out what size you are in Euro/USA sizing and search online. You may have to get them from overseas but the variety and styles vary and are actually quite nice, nicer than in some bra stores even :) i now do all my bra shopping online - usually starting with a google search ..

All the best in your search! :)

Hi Deb .. I have big boobies too and I did try the ahh bra ... I love them, comfortable and NO digging in. I did find as I am bigger, that the bottom rolls a little under the boobs, it's not uncomfortable and seems to give a little more support. I do not wear multiple bras .. just one at a time and find them quite supportive, I am older (have adult kids) so I do not have a perky figure but I do find that the ahh bra doesn't have the boobies dropping to my knees .. I recommend trying them.

Hi girls! I'm a big healthy girl too and agree with all of you about finding the right bra - nightmare. I am now in my 60's so not after the pretty look but sure do want comfort. I have found paying the bit extra I do get the right fit and feel comfortable. I wash my bra in a laundry bag and that does seem to lengthen their life. I shop at DJ 's Adelaide and find the senior lady in the department very helpful and considerate. There is a big discount store "Boob Trap" (I think that's right) and they have every size, style colour ect. and if you but 3 you pay no more than $90. They stock the "good" brands. I have been there and had success, but it is a bit hard for me to get there so I stick to DJ's and good brands.

I am an asian girl but born with big breast ,like my size is 18d , sure is,my problem is always where to get the perfect fit bra, I always end up buying bra that didn't quite comfy yet it's size d and yes you are right, you can only have the comfy bra but the price is staggeringly high. What I do? Just keep on looking and fitting until you find one.Sometimes it's a size smaller than you usually have but when u fit it ,it's ok. Keep on trying , goodluck!

Hi Deb! I have the same problem, I'm a 10E and most companies, with the exclusion of Berli, don't even produce them. Once they hit the bigger cups the size of underneath changes too. I see 12 and 14 E all the time but the don't fit. I hate having to pay a stupidly high amount of money, over $60, just for 1 bra, and most of the time they are t-shirt looking bras and not the nice ones that they make for A,B,C and even D cup.

Hi,Chloe, I'm a 12 J and have been advised buy a few people now to try the Ahh Bra. Not sure about buy without trying. Have you tried them?

Hey Deb, I've heard a little about them but I dont think that they would suit a person of your size. The sizes are only the same the shirt you wear ie. Small, medium, large and I just don't see how we would get the correct fit and comfort we would need. Most of the people on the ads are wearing multiple Ahh Bras at once and that's why they look perky, not to mention the additional padding they have. I'm not saying to 'not' try it but I'm just hesitant about wether or not it's 'too good to be true'..... Good luck though! It must be really hard for you.
:) let me know how you go.

I have a size 10 body and double D cup! I have been to specialist shops which have the sizes but very rarely fit me correctly: my girls hang over the top of the cups or the body is too loose. I even once was encouraged by the shop attendant, wrongly, to buy the size 10E. I had bruises where the underwire was digging into me. I tried to return the bra but was told that I had already worn it!!
I have trid the latest Ahhh! which is about the best but I need to wear three of them to stop my girls hitting my chin when I jump up and down.
I have been told of sites for the bigger cup, as you say they also tend to be too expensive.

Hey bear :) i sooo feel your pain!! but at the end of the day, i honestly feel that you need to spend money on a decent bra being close to the same size as myself (i am a 10dd/10e depending on the brand). I went years buying cheapy bra's and it wasnt until i coughed up the money for decent bra that i noticed the difference (Finelines is awesome!). Unf with bra's it tends to be the more you pay the better they are and the longer they last (from my own personal experience) - One trick i have picked up tho, to stop my girls from moving/bouncing etc is to wear a sports crop top (from Target or Big W) over the top of my normal bra. Works wonders! I don't even know they are there :) hope that helps! :)

I work in fashion, and a couple of my customers recently mentioned the Ahh Bra. They were both extremely happy with their Ahh bra and suggested I try it. I am a 12 J and I can't imagine the material will stretch that much. What do you think, seeing as you already have tried them?

I have the same problems deb. I'm big busted but also need a bigger size, so I can never find anything, not in the big chain stores anyway and then if you buy one from Myer, DJ's, Bras n things, it costs a fortune.
Have you ever heard of Big Girls Bras?? You can buy online and they have every size possible and they are the cheapest I've found anywhere, without compromising on quality. Check them out. Plus if you sign up for their newsletter (which they email out probably once every 2-3 weeks - so it's not intrusive) you become a member and automatically get 15% off purchases. Very worthwhile.

I do purchase from "Big girls don't cry" in Brisbane. I do this online, but only buy clearance stock, that way I pay about $40 - $60 per bra.

Hmmm, I've had a couple of GFs who were, lets say amply endowed so I'm speaking purely from the sidelines here, but the real solution is to buy the expensive ones. They fit better and last longer. Swallow the cost and do it right, don't pay ten times the price at a discount store, go to somewhere where they have staff to do a fitting and pay twelve times. It will cost more in the short term, but I'll bet you it's cheaper in the long run.

This goes double for sports bras according to one of the above GFs who played cricket (fast bowler no less!)

Actually, this goes for most things in life...

I don't think they'd be much help, they look OK for smaller boobs but there's no way they'd support a D/DD/E.....etc cup, no way. Even on the ads the girls with the bigger busts don't look like...

I agree Nita. I'm just on 60, so don't have the 'tone' as when younger. I have got a couple of similiar things, I suppose they are sports support, that I wear to bed or around the house, but they are virtually shapeless, do not really support bigger breasts. I admit, I just refuse to try on those AHH bras as I believe I'd just be once again disappointed.

Even on the ads the girls with the bigger busts don't look like they're supported. They'd probably be alright for around the house and to wear to bed but that'd be about it. But I'd also love to hear firsthand what people think of them.

Hi Deb. I'm exactly the same! It's quite sad realy because i don't even try looking at bras in shops because i know they won't have my size. If you live in Auckland you could try the Bendon Factory Outlet shop near Auckland Airport or in East Tamaki. They sometimes have really good prices. Best of Luck :)

Buy an AHH bra

Hi Rochelle, I live in Adelaide, SA. There's not too many choices of store to begin with, and some of the "so called" "specialist stores" don't even carry any bras at all in my size. Other stores will have one or two to choose from. If I travel interstate, I find there are a lot more stores and a lot more choices. There is a Bendon Outlet shop not far from me but they don't carry very much stock and don't have my size.

I agree with you about the quality, but it would be nice to pick up a cute cheaper bra once in a while. There isn't actually very many nice looking choices for my size. The brand "Panache" is a good one, that I've found, but again their prices are generally from $80 - $120. For swimming, I wear a bra, with a rash vest and buy bikini bottom separates.

Fayreform Yes you will pay more, occasionally I see them on special but overall the quality is much better and the last a lot longer than those silly $10.00 jobs. Go for quality every time and you won't be sorry.
