Living in one of the colder places in Australia, colds and flu are the norm for a lot of people. So far this winter I haven't even had a sniffle. I don't think I have done anything different this year. I don't get a flu shot.
Are we getting tougher?

I live on the Sunshine Coast too. Haven't had a cold for donkey's years. I think it is my immune system. Also it helps if you avoid likely sources of infection.
One generally unknown source of infection (in Oz anyhow) is the handle on petrol pumps. I use a glove. In parts of Europe plastic gloves are supplied at the Service Stations.
Other sources include ATMs, shopping trolleys, door handles and the like. Wash hands often or use a disinfectant. This reduces the risk considerably.
Bit of a chore? Yep, but once it's a habit it's OK.

I live on the sunny coast and although we have had some cooler weather here it's still in the high 20's. My three girls are between 9 and 19 and they have had head colds after head colds for the last 6 weeks. Maybe we need to go to the cooler climates your talking about so we can toughen up too.lol
