Have you noticed that once your signed up for online surveys, things seem to slow down then after a while stop altogether? I personally am a member of many online survey sites and these days I'm lucky to get 1 survey a month. So lets us know how your going with online survey sites and if your having the same issues as myself.

Agreed that I do not receive many surveys from cafe study. I only receive once every 2 months. Has anyone experienced lack of surveys? Will be great if they can send it on daily or weekly basis rather than every 3 months

I started doing surveys ten months ago with a promise of up to $50 per survey.I make an average of $1 dollar per survey.

How do you even get to a survey on this site??

I have found, and I don't think it is my imagination, that as my points near the point where I can redeem them, the available surveys slow down, or even non-existent. For example, I have been sitting on 180 points for over a year, at least, on this site. I just need a few more to redeem. That is why I belong to this and other sites, to be able to pick up a few dollars to supplement the DSP

Yes, I have noticed the slow down and drop off too. More recently I have entered the surveys to find they are selling or advertising products. Now I am retired and on a very low income I can't afford to have my time, and computer, tied up with things I am not interested in and cannot afford.

I have also noticed that some sites are very hard to unsubscribe from.

i have been doing surveys for three years and have noticed many things.

First: the promise of high earnings that the companies or their agents lie about.
They say you can 1000s per month for a few hours work - not true. It takes hours to complete a lot of surveys as most are 20-40 minutes long and the reward is usually from $.90 - $6.

There are no surveys paying $75 upwards to Australians anyway.

The most I earned was $25 and that was for a 3 1/2 hour one.

A lot of companies don't need Australian opinions.

A lot are only for the US or Canada so if you buy a list, you will be wasting your money.

Maybe, if you are in the US, you are paid more.

Does anyone know about that?

I get about 200 every month or more sometimes but I don't always qualify.

I am registered with a few hundred companies but don't hear from most of them ever.

I do them in between my casual work as a valet driver as there isn't time for anything else.

I too am a member of quite a few on line surveys and generally speaking enjoy enjoy doing them quite a bit but must say that the obvious lack of thought with respect to how the survey would appeal to the person taking the survey, spoils the whole thing and generally makes a person with no desire to do any more in the future.
If the questions belittle the participant or make them feel like their time is being wasted or their intelligence is being insulted then the participant is going to get their back up and is unlikely to want to do any more surveys or possibly even finish in good faith even for money and especially not for the average pittances that are generally offered. My most common thoughts when doing surveys are, "I could do a better job compiling the questions for this survey to get the desired data", or "Why has the programmer written th questions in such a format when it's obvious the struchure of the questions is going to artificially shape the answers" - unless that was the desired result, in which case why bother with a survey Lastly I too often see question blocks structured in such a way as to not allow the participant to put their honest answers if the do not fall within artificially shaped parameters and so structured as to not allow a person to really give their honest answerswithout having to use the contact us option or other such menu option to break away from the normal survey and make their honest point/points. Again this to me is tantamount to artificially shaping the data or hiding those answers that might have gone against the grain of the hoped for survey results.
I don't know if anyone understands the points I am trying to make but would appreciate knowing if anyone concurrs at all.

Yes, I have noticed that the surveys have slowed down recently. I did a small heap of them the other weekend. I also got bombarded with heaps to sign up to, and I am ALREADY signed to them. Its enough to make a Wookiee or a Yowie howl with disgust.
If I don't get any satisfaction from any of these other surveys I belong to ( I can't even see how many points or whatever, I have learned to make a claim), I'm going to unsubscribe from them. Give them the BIG A.

By the way, NEVER, EVER, PAY TO JOIN ANY SURVEY OR ON LINE OUTFIT!!! THAT is how they make their money.

lonelyleg62, I hope that your name isn't a reflection of your situation? I get dropped off a lot and I think it'd because of my age. There are many different websites and research companies, some are better than others. Best to try each one out for awhile and see how quick your rewards come. But think of it as you are contributing to decision making about products and services as well as governemnt decision, it all is important for everyone to have their say. The rewards are bonuses. I have managed to get a few small gift cards but nothing major as yet. So would love to know about those sites where they want you to pay money to join and then pay you per hour....are these trusting or not?

Hi lonelyleg62, it is interesting how some of these survey sites work. I am a senior and quite often my age immediately drops me out. I am annoyed at how far you go into a survey (time and effort put in) only to be told "we dont want you!" The rewards arent that great and really I dont do surveys for the money but really for entertainment and a chance to give my opinion (that's the part I enjoy). Its sites like this one that I truly enjoy. Being able to "chat" on topics that interest me with people of like mind is very rewarding.

hello CAT17, you hit the nail on the head. Me, I'm an oldie and despite my age can usefully contribute to surveys. I eat, drink, buy goods, go to Movies, drive a car and use and buy consumer goods. I contribute as much as anyone and find it rude of companies that initiate these surveys to exclude us oldies from their surveys. I take my teenage grandchildren clothes shopping, I help them with their weird hair-does. I better stop here and now. Cheers CAT and its been nice chatting.

some survey sites you join you have to log in nearly every day .and keep your profile up to date . i think they see how many times you log in .,and base that on if you are really interested in doing surveys, i log on every day and i seem to get surveys ,and you have to be the right one they pick ,it goes on what your profile says

As an ex-computer-programmer I know how easy it is to deduce the State from the postcode, but they're all too lazy to do it !

I am with a few companies and manage to accumulate quite a few Coles and Woolies vouchers each year to spend over Christmas. But yes, sometimes they are few and far between and then there will be a rush, however, I get screened out of most. Probably 'cos of my age!
Of all the companies I do surveys for, I get the least from Cafe Study. If I got more than a couple a year, I'd think all my Christmases had come at once. Trying to accumulate enough points is almost too hard and I am considering leaving once I reach the next reward. Not worth worrying about.
Some companies also mostly offer entries into a prize draw rather than points. I ignore those. I only do surveys that actually pay me.

Hi aussiejohn, I wonder if this chat room may not actually be a survey of sorts as we express a lot of opinions and and differing views here. You can glean a lot of information from this forum without having to sit down and think of a way to extract the information you seek. It's all here and all you have to do is monitor these pages. The information is freely given and in much more detail than you would get through a survey. Just look at all the different subjects in this section alone. It even up-dates itself on a continuing basis. Think about it.

I belong to many survey sites and have found the majority use the words "Paid Survey's" as a con to sell us goods & services we dont want or for us to sign up for a competition after we have purchased something. I have accumilated 30points in the whole time I have been with Cafe Study. I can't figure it!

I think it depends on the site. I have gradually pruned from about 15 sites down to a favourite 6 sites who deliver. Just this month or so I have had two Big Pond Music vouchers for $10 each, an Angus and Robertson (books and music) gift voucher for $30, a cash payment for $30 and a couple of $10 Paypal payments.
I also took part in a Pay TV trial as the result of one survey company, where I got it free for 3months which is now 4 months, and also as part of the trial I took a half hour phone interview for which I got paid $80!
So I'm happy :-)
Just make sure you persist in answering the emails or clicking on the links, log in to the ones that give points for logging in, and it will pay off eventually.

Have I noticed it, yes, when I joined I was going to earn lots but not to happen. They seem to target a certain type of person, when I give my age, oops!!! no more surveys. I am very disappointed thought maybe could earn more. I like WDYT a little faster in earnings. Rewards Central I have picked up a couple $30 in the past 2 months. I keep telling myself, you just have to be patient.
Good luck. Happy Christmas & a safe New Year.

It is very annoying at times, and some of the Survey Companies almost force you to say certain things. I am only with a handful of sites, but still get a reasonable amount of surveys for them. I do think though that payment for each survey should be increased, point or zoints or whatever seem to equal about 1 cent each, even if one were paid a dollar a survey the Companies would be getting cheap responses.

I agree with Lonelylegs62 that the surveys slow down after a while. Also I notice that many of the emails with so called "surveys" are only an invitation to join yet another survey company, they don't actually include a survey to take.

I haven't found as much trouble as everyone else here seems to have had. It could potentially be my demographic but perhaps if we list some active survey websites we may be able to get some surveys flowing. I think belonging to too many might be getting you bogged down and make it seem like you don't have points anywhere building up. I myself keep about 3 or 4 that I regularly use. These two are by far the best and reward receival time is pretty good aswell.

It just occurred to me: given that survey companies want to hear from a broad range of people not the same ones over again, everyone who has said they are a member of multiple schemes has just marked themselves as "do not use" :-)

One site even refers to the "problem of professional respondents". LOL! On the one hand they sell the concept as "get paid for your opinion" and on the other they complain that they get want to do a lot of surveys. Didn't think that one through so well, eh? Besides, at $10 a month from a site (a pretty good haul in my experience) you're never going to make a living from this.

being and oldie, I get a few surveys but more often than not as soon as I check my age I get screened out. I also am with a few survey companies and if I dont get
surveys after joining for 6 months I then resign...its not worth the hassle, its not as if they are paying us all a fortune for our opinion. Think abvout it, if we were doing this in the workforce they would have to pay us a lot more than $1.50 for half and hour...or a few points.

Yes of course you matter. Blame companies - they only want to research/market to areas of the greatest population. Imagine being over 60 yrs and living in rural WA - you wouldn't stand a chance!

Yes Razor, I think you are right, it is the companies. They all seem to aim product research etc toward the younger generations, and living in rural WA I guess they think that we don't really matter or don't have an opinion on their products or services, even though we are pretty savvy mostly on products and services offered by them in our regions. Oh well, I guess we just have to go with the flow and thank our lucky stars if we do get any surveys from them.
Cheers

Hmmmmmmmmm I am in a few survey sites as well here. I always thought it was because of my age on why I didn't get many surveys.......now I find I am ORDINARY????????????????????? It's okay, am laughing. It always gets me, as in one of the survey sites I am in, they pick a winner every 1/4 and whenever I see the picture, it's someone either same age as me or older on some occasions..........how come they get surveys and not me???????
There are two sites I am in and lately I have been getting a few surveys from them every day. True they may only be $1.50 or 20c that add to my total, but added up every day, that total sure gets up. I've also noticed that I wasn't getting surveys from a particular site in my email box.........so after 3 months went to investigate on their page......hey guess what, they put the surveys on their site now. There on the page of my surveys were 7 surveys that I had not completed and now have missed the chance of completing them. I go in there now twice a week to check now.

survey companies want a diverse rannge of demographics. Once you've filled in a survey - if you are the least bit ordinary - you get slowed and dropped

The survey companies want people from all parts of the demographic spectrum, so black, lesbian nuns are likely to be in more surveys because there are so few of them, wheras white male computer geeks flood the internet and survey sites so they miss out more often - there may be two BLNs and 20,000 WMCGs and the survey companies want responses from four or five of those demographics - so you see why you miss out

and don't get upset if you are a female computer geek - this is for a guide only

Sorry, but you really don't understand how this works.

What the survey companies want is a sample set that matches the distribution of the population of the demographic they are surveying. Survey companies want a broad spread of members, not because they want to include one of each "type", but because need a big enough sample set to represent the general population.

To use your example, assuming that 1 to 10,000 is the proportion of black lesbian nuns to white male computer geeks in the general population, then NEITHER will receive more surveys than the other. BLNs will receive NO more surveys because that would make them over represented in the sample set, while WMCGs will receive no fewer because they would then be under respresented.

Now if the survey was targeted at nuns - maybe on the subject of bad habits (JOKE, JOKE) - then since the general population of nuns is smaller, BLNs would make up a higher proportion, but they will still receive proportionally no more surveys.

This is a gross oversimplification, but serves for illustration. I think you are confusing sampling with the demographic break down that comes later in the ****ysis.

My theroy is that polling is seasonal. If there are fewer surveys, it's because there is less polling going on. When there is less polling going on, people notice and start to check more often so what surveys there are get filled more rapidly. Maybe a few people get discouraged and drop out, thus reducing the size of the sample and increasing the likely hood of any member getting a survey. The next round of market research comes around and we are all happy again.
