My wife recently took me out for my birthday at a 5 star hotel in the city. The buffet was excellent, but the experience was somewhat soured when we were charged $10.00 for a glass of watermelon juice & $6.50 for a cup of coffee. How can this be justified?

First of all, you drink whatever you feel like, so leave him alone with that already!!!
We all know that 5 star hotels overcharges. My problem is when you pay the overprice expecting spotless service and excellent food and you end up getting average or less. These days you can get the same food or service in a Chinese buffet as in a 5 star hotel restaurant.
I've been to Melbourne and the quality of food is ten times better than Sydney, where I live. But I found many restaurants where the food is good, expensive but good.
