So what's with the diamond ring?
Other than the beauty of a diamond, what makes the diamond any more special than other gems such as a ruby, emerald, amethyst, topaz, etc?
Perhaps you were to get the partner their birthstone set in a ring. Would that not be more significant as it has more meaning?
As a society, does price say more than they actual symbolism of the token? Culturally no, stereotypically yes?

good one PukPuk, I also agree with Dallas, a cluster is lovely, whem my marriage broke up I kept my ring (of course), it is now a 41 year old cluster and looks as lovely as the day I got it, ANGUS AND COOTE ( when you through playing games) he was`nt, but the ring is faitful
