I am 60 and like you born on or near a dairy farm. We also drank milk straight from the vat. I now live in the Sunshine Coast hinterland and buy my milk from the Maleny Dairy, full cream, pasteurised only for marketing purposes, meaning close to real milk still exists, cost a bit more but you still get that rich cream taste. All my dairy purchases come from Maleny Dairy.
I liked the add whereby a customer asked the lady behind the counter for a bottle of milk and she started to rattle off all these types of milk. The customer replies he only wants real milk. I always felt like jumping in and telling him it doesn't exist anymore.
Also interesting that you say we ate everything put in front of us, we had too, or go hungry. As a toddler I even ate a red back spider, guess I thought I would get the first bite in before the spider did, so I agree with your sentiments on healthy immune systems. These days a child plays in the dirt, gets a runny nose and the mother immediately starts to load them up with antibiotics.
