I agree with you 100%. We have been to Thailand 5 times, including spending a day in Bangkok while the curfew was on - not a soul in the city, very spooky. Yet I have NEVER felt unsafe in Thailand, and will return again.

However, I have to admit one place I would NOT consider visiting is Bali - since the Bali bombings I have heard too many times that the Indonesian government has intercepted plans to target tourists in Bali, and I just think it's a silly place to go to.
