There are a number of brands that have disappeared over the years that have been "replaced" with "home brands". I read some time ago that these products were actually no different to the "name brands" to the extent that many were actually made in the same place as as the "name brands". I don't like the way this is going though. We now know how badly the big supermarkets are treating their suppliers plus how terrible the economic climate has been against manufacturing anything in this country. We need to know how things are being made, not just the ingredients >1% that are in the food products we buy. When are companies going to be encouraged to focus more on developing foods that are genuinely good for us instead of playing the "taste - addiction - profits" game?
