do you save cold water in a bucket when the hot shower water is turned on

We have a large Stefani water filter in the kitchen which we use for filtered drinking water. When I run the hot water tap, of course it is cold water at first, I collect this in a jug and put it into the water filter rather than it just going straight down the drain.
