Do you wish Christmas would come and go quickly or do you look forward to it with great enthusiasm? Do you believe Christmas has lost its meaning given all the materialistic connotations associated with it or does it still have a special place in your heart?

Lovely post Arlene.
However, it is only recently that Christmas has ceased to be the most difficult time of the year for me. As an extremely poor single parent with NO family or real support and an ex who often 'acted up' at this time of year Christmas was always incredibly tough. Loving Jesus was not enough to put food on the table or presents under the tree, and that was important too.

And one of the greatest barriers for me enjoying Christmas back then was oher people's expecations that I would enjoy Christmas in the same way that they did - and that there was something wrong with me because I did not enjoy it...but It was just too hard.

Circumstances DO make a difference! It is only now that times have changed and I am able to opt OUT that I find I am able to pause and reflect and to truly celebrate.

And there would be a lot of people who experience Chriistmas in the same way that I did - so we need to be a little sensitive in the way we express ourselves sometimes.
