When in Spain a couple of years ago I did a day trip over to Morocco. It is very different and you need to learn about all the local customs etc. as think they did not seem too keen on Western people only to try and get money off them. Even the children followed us everywhere and tugged at our sleeves all the time to try and get us to give them money. Bartering is most important and you have to be really hard at this otherwise you will be ripped off. They were building dozens of new hotels and think they are trying to compete with the Costa del Sol to try and get tourists there. The Casbah was very interesting but a bit scarey down the little narrow streets and one could easily get lost in there. A guide is probably a good idea until you find your way around. Good luck.
